[EDIT] - It’s 2020, and well, the world is currently in social isolation due to COVID-19 so I’m here following up on my reviews. See below for update + 2 secret tips I’ve found that enhance this product ;)! I love this product. I’ve tried every product you may think of. My hair is super thin, soft and light. I usually go for a messy look, hair spiked up bed head style - this works perfectly for me. Give it a shot - it’s expensive, but it’s worth it. You really don’t need much - it could last a good 40-60 days for the bigger size. Smells fantastic. Go for it - don’t think too much, you won’t be disappointed. 2020 - Still love this product, and can safely say I shall be a life-long user as long as they keep producing it. It works, and it’s frickin great so I doubt I’ll be on the lookout for anything else going forward. ** Semi-Messy spiked up style - Medium to short hair ** I only use my hands to style it, no combs or anything. ** 1) For best result, wash hair with shampoo and conditioner at the same time, drop a bit of both on palm, mix in your hand, scrub hair and wash off. Once out, bend head towards ground and blow dry to completely dry your hair. While applying the product, also bend down toward ground, then drive your hands through your hair rigorously from all sides, once the product is fully applied you can now style as desired while looking at the mirror. (Best product for my hair and for this pomade to work was using OGX Fitness shampoo and 2-3 drops of OGX Miracle oil conditioner) 2) CLEANING YOUR HAND: The black sponge found inside the pomade. Using ONLY COLD water while washing, use the black sponge to gently scrub your hands from the product. It works insanely fast and effective! My only concern with this product was that it took long to wash out of hands, but the sponge solved it! Be gentle tho or the sponge wi¥¥ start to break down over time.

    Coming from Gatsby products, I wanted to try something new and did this not disappoint.

    Tried On: Thick Asian Hair

    Hold: The hold is quite nice and gives a lot of playability with the hair. It just goes where it needs to. However, after a few hours of going outside it can lose its hold. The good thing is, it is quite easy to restyle again without application.

    Scent: It smells of a very light coconut smell and is quite pleasant. I'm not huge on scents and this was what I was looking for. You can smell it on your hands but people around you wouldn't notice it unless they are directly smelling your hair.

    Washability: It is quite easy to wash off with just water so you don't have to worry about over damaging your hair.

    Value: The price of the product is on the expensive end but it works as needed and I would not hesitate to buy again. I would prefer a product that works well and is good quality rather than a cheaper alternative.

    Overall: Amazing product and I would definitely buy again.

    I've been an AG Stucco user for almost 10 years. I finally had enough with the cost of it and the small package size. This is about 2x the size for approximately the same price, has a higher hold factor, and is just as convenient to use as the AG product. I really like the dampened sponge included in the package to make sure the top layer doesnt get dried out or gummy. A really nice touch and it's an issue that plagued my previous brand, especially as you got more than halfway through the tub because of the increased volume of air inside the package, drying it out. Sprinkling water on top to keep it from drying out also impacts the matte-ness of it, so that wasn't as ideal as this sponge.

    If your hair is completely dry before applying, it will have a matte finish. If you leave your hair damp, it will be slightly more glossy....almost satin.

    It washes off my hands with just hot water, but a little soap wouldnt hurt. As a result, if it rains it WILL wash out of your hair and potentially run down your forehead.

    I've used multiple brands over the years and the Joico clay I was using was actually better than I had expected but it's now discontinued. After much searching and reading reviews I decided on this product. The scent is ok, not overly strong but still stronger than I'd prefer. Like a lot of clays, you have a limited work time so you gotta work fast and not over-work it. If you wait a while after styling you can run your fingers through your hair and move it around, so it's not overly hard. But the hold is ok and unless you finish with hairspray, don't expect it to hold everything together by itself. But I find a lot of clays like this. Would recommend.

    I've used various brands of hair styling products over the years, the usual drug store and supermarket brands, from gels to pomades to clays. I generally look for a balance of price and performance. Layrite products are the best I've used. They apply and hold they way are rated to (medium hold, strong hold, etc.) and they wash out so well. I used Old Spice products for a while but Layrite is my go-to now. I've tried the Super Hold pomade and the Cement Clay now. Both very good products. Highly recommend.
