This item is easy to assemble, and although the suction cups on the rear feet to not work unless the floor is completely smooth (including no grout lines between tiles under the feet) the item does stay in place pretty well. Make sure there is adequate clearance between the raised toilet seat lid and the front of the toilet tank, as the cross piece of the safety rail runs through that space, and if there is not enough space, the toilet lid may not stay in the up position. When using the rails, it is important that the user put equal weight on both handrails at the same time, putting weight on only one side could result in the unit tipping. In my case, the height adjustment was adequate to allow it to be used by a short (under 5') senior with a comfort height toilet. If you have an older lower height toilet without a raised seat, the rails may not be able to go low enough to allow for comfortable use in getting up.
