I am very pleased with my purchase. To be fair one of these arrived with the plastic reservoir detached from the ceramic cone. After looking at the other 3 I was able to reattach this after 5 attempts.
I am doing a test I think every owner should undertake: To understand the rate the water passes through to the soil mixture in your plant. Ceramic that doesn't have glazing is semipermeable and able to pass water.
In summary my 5 star review is "why over complicate this". As long as a person isn't hard on plastic this should last where the buyer will get good value for their money.
For the DIY folks I'd consider a UV clear coat applied to the outside of the reservoir given that plants need sunlight to grow and over time this will degrade the plastic.
