These don't extend very far from their mounting position, so you may have to negotiate how your radar locks in (and stays perpendicular to the ground), but once you do, it's rock solid. It makes me feel way more secure about not losing my Varia and it's way easier moving the radar between bikes.

I have three of these units now and they do exactly what you want, and honestly what Garmin should have provided in the Varia box. It attaches nicely to the rails of the saddle (be sure to tighten evenly and not overly), and the common GoPro mount approach allows for longer arms to be added if you need to get past a saddle bag. The unit is light but durable and my Varia has never popped off when hitting a hard bump on the bike.

Mi riservo nel tempo di aggiungere altre notizia riguardo la durata.
Al momento sembra bene fatto facile da istallare e di buon materiale.
Unica nota a sfavore nulla di eclatante le viti in donazione vengo avvolte lungo ka filettatura dal ferma filetto , purtroppo ne è troppo e questo crea difficoltà nell' avvitarle...ne ho dovuto togliere un pochino altrimenti le viti non chiudevano metterciun goccio di olio e avvitare e svitare le 3 viti prima di montarlo sotto la sella .
Avendone comprate 2 ho notato chevsu entrambe ho avuto lo stesso problema quindi non è una casualità, questa è l'unica piccola nota negativa ma ripeto nulla di esagerato.

I bought this thing because I was not confortable with the mount included with the RTL515, especially the rubber bands, with the sun and rain I have doubts about the durability.

I did two things with this mount:

1) As other reviewers wrote the mount is 90% off, so you need to unscrew and put on the proper position to avoid the light ending up sideways. The funny thing is that in the package a smaller allen wrench is included to do this, so they know you will need to change the mount. I'm not sure why they don't do at the factory and avoid the cost of an additional wrench. Maybe they think some customers will use the mount as an alternative to Garmin quarter turn...who knows. In any case, not a big deal.

2) I changed the screw used on the mount (button head) for a M5 16mm (head cap), it is more secure, easy to adjust and less prone to strip...also is black vs. the silver screws included, personal preference.

My bike is a Trek X-Caliber 9, with a Bontrager Arvada saddle, pretty common on Trek MTB line.
