In the beginning there were adjustable components, usually an alternator, that could be moved to tighten or loosen a vee belt. These systems were effective but required periodic maintenance to keep the belt tight to prevent it from slipping. Then came spring loaded tensioners and ribbed, serpentine belts. This was a huge improvement. It increased the contact surface of the belt, and it eliminated the need for periodic tightening. Now we have Stretch Fit belts. These belts are very effective and eliminate the need for an adjustment mechanism (either moveable component or spring-loaded tensioner). However, they present a major PITA when they need to be changed. They often live in an almost inaccessible area, too small to fit your hand, and blocked by an engine mount or other structure. Changing these belts can be VERY DIFFICULT. This tool significantly improves the process. It's still not easy, but it makes a difficult task much less difficult.
I recommend this product to anyone that has to change a stretch fit belt!!

Bought for use with t66 bobcat skid steer. Had to really struggle with it to work. Needed 4 hands in a small space to keep from screwing up the new belt. If it was automotive car or truck the belt is flexible but not the machine we used it on. So that's why the 3 stars. Says will work for all but that is not true. If they want to make it better they need to increase the length of the part the belt rides on as well as the lip that holds on to the pulley it's self.
