    First off, I put in a Korky unit in the basement toilet tank after running through several other brands and their universal what's its. They were always harder to install and worked well for about a year and then had problems.

    The Korky went in ... quite a while ago (so long that I can't remember--maybe six years?) and ran trouble free.

    Finally water started spraying out the top of the unit. The hissing sound was the tell, because the toilet still worked fine.

    Searching for a replacement unit on 鶹 (I love you too sometimes) I discovered this simple replacement part. Then I found Korky has a simple 1:30 long vid explaining how to do it.

    And now I have the second part on hand for the next time.

    If only everything worked so beautifully. This is so ... retro?

    My Korky 528 Fill Valve (cheaper model) was having fill issues. Would fill up about half way and then stop for a couple of seconds, starting filling again for a few seconds, stop for a few seconds, start filling again, etc.. It would do this 4 or 5 times before the tank was filled. Annoying behavior. I disassembled the valve and noticed the red rubber diaphragm inside the cap appeared well worn. The edge of the diaphragm was wavy around its edge, should have been laying flat. Also noted a series of small holes running through it. The repair cap I ordered has solved my issues. Toilet flushes normally now.

    Can't tell if this is original equip or not, shipped in a clear plastic bag as a set of 2. Easy install, save $ and the hassle of removing the entire valve.

    Watching the video, it seems real easy to install. Maybe if you have done it before but the first time was a chore. Getting the hose off was hard. Working in a tight place with the tank lever in the way. Even in a well lighted bathroom it is dark in the tank and because the parts are all black, except for the Korky cover, it is hard to see what you are doing. Have a light handy. eventually, able to get the valve out and put the new one in but getting the float properly attached was a chore. This is where you really need a light to see what you are doing. I thought re-attaching the hose was going to be difficult since it was so hard to disconnect but no problem attaching it to the valve. More trouble getting the other end attached because you have to see the clip in order to get it attached correctly. Hissing that indicated a leak still persisted after installation but stopped and hasn't started up again. In summary, it still beats replacing the entire fill valve or calling in a plumber.

    Had to do it again and it was just as difficult as the first time. If the video had audio instructions, it would make it much easier.
