- Reviewed in Canada on June 4, 2025Verified PurchaseI'm an amateur/hobby tie-er and this is all I really need. Much better than the cheapo $20 vice I started on. Some of the reviews had me questioning but honestly glad I pulled the trigger. Holds the hooks firm had good rotation when needed. Adjustable tensions all around. Saved me at least $100 vs. a premium vice that I probably would appreciate just as much. Again, I tie maybe once a month so I'm far from a pro.

Reviewed in Canada on March 28, 2024Verified PurchaseJe l'adore.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 2, 2024Verified PurchaseI was tying a bass bug on a 2/0 and the tip of the jaw broke off. Enjoyed using the vise until that happened. The rotary also doesn't lock so you should get used to the jaws spinning around while your tying.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it but ........
Verified PurchaseI do like this new vise and its got true rotary action, something I wonder how I managed without. There are a couple of issues though.
The first is, its a little low for me. I'm used to working higher, I resolve this issue by cutting a couple of squares of plywood for the vise to sit on.
The main issue for me is the movement of the upright shaft as it sits in its locating collar, there is a lot of play here. There is a tightening screw but because the shaft is so loose in the collar it doesn't work very well. It currently has a few wraps of insulating tape wrapped round the the shaft in an attempt to take up the slack.
I'm thinking of drilling and tapping 2 more holes in the collar to try and hold the shaft more securely.
However, I do like the rotary action, happy days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent vise for $100.
Verified PurchaseThis is a nice tying vise. It's just a little smaller that I thought but it works well. I've tied up a dozen or so flies with it and it's smooth. It's solid on the base with no wobble so I guess the manufacturer fixed any issues. Most of the flies I tied were size 16 or smaller and the vise gripped them with no issues. I have not tried larger hooks for streamers, but that's not what I normally fish.
