- Reviewed in Canada on April 30, 2025Verified PurchaseKeys worked great for my car (2010 Honda civic LX) only thing is you can’t just have the key cut it also has to be programmed which cost me roughly $100 per key, plus the cost to get it cut, much cheaper than going to Honda but still slightly costly. You also have to be cautious when buying by making sure that the keys are usable for your car cause sometimes they aren’t compatible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mostly worked in a 2010 Acura MDX, not the trunk.
Verified PurchaseI'm not taking off any stars because this isn't perfect in an unsupported car. This is made for a specific generation of Honda Civic, and some other source said that those Civics and my MDX took the same key. Mostly correct.
I cut this key in a CNC mill, because I'm a machinist and that's what I do. There is a document out there, Greg Brandt High Security Chart.pdf also titled "Sidewinder Key Bitting" that details sizes and shapes of things. Mechanically these keys are just right for any Honda/Acura made in the last 20 years or so.
Programming was done with a Honda Easy Key Maker, available on amazon or various shady sites. You put a working key in and turn it on and off depending on beeping noises, then you put a new key in and turn in on and off depending on beeping noises. At the end of it The key was almost completely functional. The only thing that doesn't work for me is the trunk button. Also, I can't get it to work for Driver 2. After a bit of research I'm pretty sure that driver 2's remote operates at a different frequency. The driver is selected by whichever remote last unlocked the car, regardless of what key turns in the ignition. Basically, if the remote isn't specifically made for driver 2 then it's probably driver 1.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2012 CIVIC LX WORKED PERFECTLY!!!
Verified PurchaseThese keys worked great on a 2012 Civic. Old key would not turn ignition. Got these cut using the old key but "adjusted" for wear. Ignition turned and I was able to program with ease using a scan tool. Very happy with these.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must be programmed to vehicle with specialized computer
Verified PurchaseExactly what I was looking for with my 2007 Honda Civic EX coupe however getting this thing to work with my Civic turned out to be a nightmare which I hope you can avoid. Simply put - pay for a mobile locksmith to come out and cut the key and program it to your car. It's going to cost you a lot but there's no way around it. I paid $90 to have them cut and $120 to have them programmed (for two keys). It DOES have a transponder chip embedded for ignition immobilization technology. It also has the function for keyless entry. Both work fine when you program your CAR to read the chips but you need a mobile locksmith or a dealer to do this for you. The YouTube videos I watched on how to program your own keys don't work on my car. You HAVE to use a programming tool connected to your OBD2 in order for it to work. I originally took my keys to a Dealer and they would not cut the aftermarket keys using their machines because they claimed that the drill bit could be ruined by an aftermarket alloy. The dealer would only cut genuine honda keys.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cant beat this price!
Verified PurchaseThe reason for 4 starts is because the plastic case opens easier than it should. I turned the key in the ignition really quick one day and the back opened up on me. Turns out that is wasn't a big deal at all as it just snaps back together, but I thought I broke it at that time. At least it wont be a problem when it comes time to change the battery. So for that minor quality issue I had to deduct a star. What I consider a minor issue might be a deal breaker for someone else. Other than that, I saved a couple hundred bucks as the dealership was going to charge me 200+ per Key!
I bought these 2 keys for under $30 and had them both programmed at a locksmith for $110.
Out the door I got 2 new keys for my 2006 Honda Civic EX for $140!!! The dealership would have charged me over $400+ for 2 new keys. So I saved over $200+. Now there is a significant difference in Honda quality over these aftermarket keys. This is my first Honda which I bought used of course, which is why I needed the new keys. My car only came with 1 plain key that did not have the buttons to use the auto door locks. I personally preferred to save the the extra money so I chose the aftermarket keys. All the button features work perfectly (lock, unlock, trunk and panic). The key starts the car and opens the door fine. However, the key sticks in the trunk and does not open it. I think this is probably due to the way the locksmith cut the key. Not a problem at all as one press of the button and the trunk pops open.
So if you want to save a few hundred dollars and don't mind having a key that is just below the quality of a genuine Honda key, then I highly recommend these keys! If you really are set on having a high quality key, you may not be satisfied with these keys.
Note: just to be perfectly clear, when I mention the quality of the key I am referring to the plastic housing around the key and not the metal key itself.

5.0 out of 5 stars OEM like quality
Verified PurchaseCost me more to get them cut than the keys cost but lol oh well.
Was able to program them easily with a 3rd party scan tool, which I took a gamble on, usually have no luck with aftermarket keys, but this worked just fine.
