This is a really fun activity and kept my 4.5 year old son entertained for about an hour. It was an activity that I had to be at the table with him and assist, but for the most part he could do it himself. I recommend having two containers of the water solution because after you make your creature shape, it has to sit in the water for 10 to 15 minutes. We kept adding them to the same Bowl which is provided, but it was hard to remember which one went in first so some stayed in for 25 minutes and others I took out too early then it squeezed out. I would probably have two or three bowls going at once just so you can time it better which one is ready to come out and which one is not.
I also wish there were more than just four molds. My son could squeeze and fill up the moulds on his own, but then wanted to do more than just the four shapes. It would be awesome if there were more so he could do more things unassisted. Once you have them out of the water, they are fun and squishy and they stay for a couple days. After a few days, they start to dry out and get super tiny. We were able to rehydrate them to about half the size they were by leaving them in water for 24 hours, but it wasn’t quite the same. So if you do want to keep them long-term, make sure you store them in liquid.
It is nice that they came with kid size gloves, and I used some adult size gloves that I had at home. Overall, my son really enjoyed doing this activity and Enjoyed playing with the slimy squishy critters after as well, but definitely the actual activity was the fun part for him. We are almost out of the gel but he would definitely do another round of making them!

This is the 14th kit I’ve tried. It’s a good starter kit, but one of my least favorite from the ones I’ve tried.
I have ordered 4 different sets (all different brands). They’re all very similar, yet slightly different. This one has the least amount of colors and the least amount of molds. The 4 molds in this kit are the same molds in almost every other kit I’ve tried so far. The colors aren’t bad in this kit, but I prefer to have a black for the eyes and antennas. We do really like the red in this one, because we haven’t had a bright pretty red in the other kits.

We have done so many of these, that we now like to combine all the different colors and molds from all the kits. My 4-year-old LOVES making these! We have a Plastic Kool-Aid pitcher full of these molds! If this is your first one and it’s for a young child, this would be a good kit. Without knowing or trying the other kits, I would probably give these 4 or 5 stars. But because I have tried to many different kits, I would give this one 2 or 3 stars, instead. The price of this when I originally ordered this item was $14.99, which isn’t a bad price for this set.
