To be clear, this is nothing high-tech. It is simply a portable light source for tracing, drawing, and other similar projects. It does not have any bells and whistles, not even a built-in battery, it is just a consistent light source.

It is very lightweight and very thin.

Its lightweight is great for portability, but its large area and lack of built-in batteries are not. But large area is a plus you would not want to trade off for portability, and you can always carry a power bank with you instead of your light pad bearing heavier.

As you can see in the photos, the light pad has a large area and has a decent lighting. It does not, however, seem very sturdy, so you might have to be careful when packing and carrying it with you.

There are two things I can criticize:
1) The power plug is a micro-USB which is a dying standard now. But it is very likely because the light pad is very thin and micro-USB plugs are also very thin,
2) When you plug the power cable to the device, there is a red light that comes on which seems pointless. It looks as if it is a charging light, but it is not. The only benefit of this that I can think of is to make sure the device is powered in the case where you cannot turn it on.

Overall, it is a very simple lighting source, but it does its job well. The price of $40 CAD (minus a 50% coupon) might be high without the coupon for such a simple device, but the coupon corrects that.

I recently got the KIVOTAC A4 LED Light Pad and it has been an absolute delight for all my artistic projects.
