- Reviewed in Canada on June 7, 2023Verified PurchaseVery happy with my new saltwater system. I purchased a similar system from Intex in 2014 and it ran reliably for years. Started up every year. All I had to do was add enough salt to the pool to trigger the right ppm level and it ran great. So much more enjoyable than chlorine with all the work and monitoring. The Saltwater system is amazing. I was able to install my replacement unit in literally 2 minutes. The setup is slightly different, but I love it. This new unit has a self-cleaning mode which I look forward to testing. The old unit required periodic removal of the anode and soaking in vinegar or CLR, so this will be a nice upgrade.

- Reviewed in Canada on May 20, 2024Verified PurchaseThe unit did not work. Contacted Intek warranty department and explained it did not power on. They claimed it is broken because I used an extension cord. I used a contractor extension cord from my house with an additional GFCI on it. They claim that that voids the warranty even though there is no mention of using an extension cord other than it may shorten the life span of the unit. I asked what good is the GFCI on the unit if does not protect against this. Also, how many people have a pool that is 20' from their house outlet? Some reviewers have cut the GFCI off the unit and replaced the plug. I will try that, otherwise I am out $350.00. Really mad.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new world in above ground pools.
Verified PurchaseVery nice unit. Easy to follow instructions. Just the way I had mine sitting, wish the hose was a little longer. I re adjusted my set up.
I would recommend this unit to those looking to go to a salt water system.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic saltwater system for Stock Tank Pools
Verified PurchaseI initially bought a smaller Intex saltwater system, but didn’t like the reviews so I decided to return it for this one, and I’m glad I did.
The system has worked basically flawlessly for keeping a ~600 gallon 8ft Hastings Poly Stock Tank Pool clean all summer. I dumped in the required amount of salt, and made sure the accompanying Intex pump runs about 4 hours and the saltwater system runs 2 hours and the pool has been pretty nice and clean all summer long.
I’d say the only Cons I’ve found are that my town’s spring water supply is pretty heavy on the calcium levels and in turn that makes the saltwater system run a little cloudy while it runs, but as long as the filter pump runs for a while after it, it clears up very well.
The other issue, and this is mostly trivial, is that the filter pump must be running to operate the saltwater system and the pump has a GFCI cord with a simple switch to operate the timer, it here’s the kicker, whenever you unplug, trip the breaker, have a power outage, or adjust the timer switch, you’ve reset the time of day that the pump with run at, so for example, if I adjust that timer at noon one day, and ran it at 6pm the day before, the new schedule for the pump is at noon, and the saltwater system doesn’t follow that schedule, so you have to re-initialize the saltwater system right after you adjust the pump’s schedule timer otherwise the saltwater system will turn on at the old time which could leave it not operating at all that day and beeping its “low flow” alarm until it times out or you discover the mismatch and fix it. I wish there was a better way to operate them a little bit better in conjunction with each other. Not a huge deal, because it works well if you set them up at the same time, but I would like a better way to time them.
I would highly recommend this saltwater system if you’re looking to DIY a Stock Tank Pool.

Verified PurchaseItem was as described but when I opened box and looked at piping I determined it was not going to accommodate regular 1 1/2 pvc that’s in my piping so I went with a inline chlorinates

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple or complicated?
Verified PurchaseThe instructions are 27 pages. It somehow seems simple and very complicated, but it all works, and it's simple to setup. It just didn't feel like it when it's new to us.
