I bought this to record my drumming on my e-drum kit. So simple to use, the 3.5mm end plugs in to the headphone jack on my Android phone (Samsung A71) and the 1/4 inch plug to the other end and then in to the drum module output. I launched my camera app switched to video and it recorded both video/audio. However it may not work with all Androids but most I do believe. I think it was mainly designed for an iPhone. It only recorded from the output from my drum module and did not record any outside sounds. I am quite happy with it and for the price it's worth a shot if you have an Android and e-drums. Will also work with a guitar or keyboard as well. It converts your headphone output from your phone to an input for recording audio.
The frank story is that if you're trying to use this with an Android and a bass guitar, and you've never done this before, it is really frustrating trying to locate an app and learn how to make it work. My son and I gave up after an hour. I suspect a more costly unit with custom software would be an easier solution.
I use these to wire my guitar or mic into my iPhone or iPad to make use of the plethora of real-time audio FX and multitrack apps then route the output back out to mixer or ASIO interface. Pair these with the lightning to headphone adapter and you have a host of routing to facilitate all kinds of music making configurations. These feel a little lightweight but do the job wonderfully at an unbeatable price.
The Irig works fine on modern phones. I have a Iphone XS Max on the latest IOS and i can plug the Irig on it with the 3.5mm to lightning dongle that Apple makes and it works fine with GarageBand. I can plug my guitar on it and jam and the sound is great!
I got the product for playing guitar on my laptop and phone but when it came it wouldn't work. It's like plugging in nothing to your laptop. I suggest spending some more to get an audio interface if you want to use it for guitar
Enfin! Merci!
