    Just tried this out at are off grid cabin this morning to make some warm water to do some dishes. Ran it off are 3800w generator and had no problems. Took probably less than 10 minutes to get 5 gallons up to temp. For the price you can't beat it. Its going to be great for shower water as well.

    I bought it to heat a 5 gallon pail of water for camping use , showers , dishes.
    My experiment and data collection compares a Coleman stove and 1lb green bottle of propane vrs. This electric heater .
    5 gallons of water from tap at 40degrees f. To 100 degrees f. Is the goal here.
    - Colman and one gallon pot of water heated and dumped in and next pot of water pulled out of same pail and heated and dumped in. This took 5 pots of water heated and dumped in 35 minutes and 3 oz of propane.
    - Electric heater . Same 5 gallon of water from tap at 40 degrees f. Plugged in heater and it took 20 minutes to heat to 100 f.
    - other notes about electric heater . I had it plugged into an amp , watts , monitor to see what it pulled during use.
    It pulls 14.6 amps the whole time and 1760 watts .
    This was done with a wall outlet on a 20 amps breaker in my Garge.
    I don’t know how my 2000 watt generator will handle this and I’ve yet to look if the generator has a 20 amps breaker in cct breaker. Because I don’t think a regular 15 amp will hold up.
    Conclusion. It is faster by 15 minutes but you must have the power to run it.

    Ok I used the 2100w inverter Genest and it did work but really loaded it down. It has a 15 amp breaker which never popped so I guess it can handle the electric heater 👍

    I needed emergency heated water outdoors in frigid temps, and I needed it fast. I am very well pleased with this immersible heater but PLEASE BE CAREFUL! This unit gets hot REALLY FAST! In less than 30 seconds of being plugged in, it will burn your skin so please follow instructions. Do NOT let kids use this unit. It can heat a 5 gallon bucket of water from a skin of ice on top to 167 f (75C) in mere minutes. Then it shuts itself off. Because of how powerful this heater is, I can absolutely understand how you would not want to use it in any situation that you are not present. For my purposes, it worked flawlessly in sub-freezing weather. The quality seems good, but the instructions state that there is a red indicator light that lets you know it is on....um...no, there is no red light. The cord length is rather short, but the instructions clearly state that it is safe to use an extension cord---CAVEAT--- MAKE SURE YOUR EXTENSION CORD CAN HANDLE THE WATTAGE. And even then, that extension cord might get a little warm. Mine did. I appreciate the auto shut-off and the apparent durability. The bright yellow color is attractive as well. I think this unit is well worth the money. It certainly helped me on the farm.

    Works exactly as intended. In an emergancy situation its proven a great way to have a semblance of normalcy. Warm water for dishes in about 5 min. And a 5 gallon bucket for a shower in 15. Draws roughly as much power as electric cooking device like an air fryer. The thermostat worked well until I dropped it in the water and its never been the same. It also doesn't have a way to turn it off unless you just remove the batteries. But its not hard to check the water temp safley without it.

    Despite the thermometer problems, I'd still gove it a 5 star because the actual main device works super well. And the shroud keeps it safe to handle even directly after heating a large amount of water.
