The weather is not quite at the point where I can take this out for a float. Most of our tube floating is done in the canals and currently they do not have water in them to test this out yet. Instead, we inflated this at home to make sure it is all in working condition.
This tube is made of a decently thick material, better quality then your basic pool floating but not as heavy duty as a boating tube, that should be able to withstand a basic amount of wear and tear. The tube is easy to inflate with one large inflation valve for the majority of the tube and then small inflation valves for each of the backrests and another inflation valve for the lid to the center console. Normally you can push the valves inside the tube so they don’t stick out, but we were unable to get the large valve to push down, so it sticks out still. It is at the back of the tube, so it shouldn’t be an issue. Include with the tube is a rope that can be strung through the loops to go around the tube for a place to grab on when swimming/floating. The tube also has two quality sturdy handles, one on each side to make for easier carrying as well as holding onto when in the tube or from the water.
There are two cupholders on the tube, one for each person that are a bit larger than the size of a pop can. The center storage area allows you to store drinks or more useful items like towels and sunglasses. It has a “solid” bottom so items in it will stay dry as long as the tube stays upright. There is a lid for this part that allows you to keep things cool inside it. The lid is held in place by Velcro on each end. I find the lid is too big for the spot, so it’s best not to blow it up fully so that it fits better over the hole and stays in place better. I see this item quickly getting lost as it’s held in place by velcro on each side and really should be attached to the tube on one side and then use Velcro to open and close it.
One of the main reasons I got this item is so our grandson can go canal floating with us. By having him on an attach tube we don’t have to worry about holding onto his tube or it floating too far away and can have better access to him if needed. So I was excited when I saw that this actually comes with removeable tubes that can be used as extra cushion for adults or smaller adults and is an excellent option for children to also fit in the tube without putting full pressure on the mesh attached to the bottom of the tube. The mesh is a nice comfort feature that keeps you sitting more upright and not sinking too far down in the tube when floating. The combination of the mesh and the insert tube is a great option for smaller people.
