Although a few range days will put it through the real test. This multi functioning laser/light combo is of seemingly good quality. The dial clicks in a satisfying haptic way and isn’t loud, cheap, or wobbly. It functions as expected although I don’t have the proper gear to test the IR illuminator. It comes with a foamed carry case when not being used also. Overall the unit is as described and recommendable. I will update if anything of concern arises. Thanks for your time.

    All I'm going to say is watch some videos of this gem. It's power and construction is way above it's price point. The light is excellent, but I hope they come out a model that's just a laser and IR illuminator. 6/5 stars.

    This laser sight from SMS Laser combines a 1000 lumen white light, IR illuminator, IR laser, and green laser. This sight is powered by a 18500 Lithium battery which is charged by an included single cell charger. This sight is well constructed so it should be durable. It is a bit on the heavier side but this is probably due to the multiple functions included. The lasers are class IIIA which is generally safe when shined directly into an eye for less than 2 minutes, but may still cause temporary blindness. Overall, this is a nice sight but maybe slightly heavy.

    I am editing this review, as I previously gave it three stars because I did not think it had enough power for the price. This was due to my own ignorance, and will address it later in the review.

    This is the second light/laser that I own, but the only one with an IR illuminator. I purchased this because I have seen all over forums and other sites that this is one of the best up-and-coming boxes out of the Chinese market. With many rave reviews, I decided to give it a try. After initially being disappointed the first month I owned this laser, I have found out how to actually operate it, and am quite happy with the performance overall.

    PROS
    The box is very well put together, far better than most PEQ-15 clones on the market, and other different types of light/laser boxes trying to make a name for themselves. SMS Laser has obviously worked hard to differentiate themselves from the pack in this regard.

    The function selector switch has a very substantial feel to it. There is some effort required to move it (I find that to be a good thing), and when you land on a selection, there is a satisfying click, so you know it's in place. The other light/laser box I use has a function selector switch that doesn't really give much tactile feedback at all.

    Despite the hefty material used to build the box, it really doesn't seem to weigh as much as much as I've heard other people say. It adds a reasonable amount of weight, but nothing that I think is unmanageable.

    Having an external battery might seem like it could be an issue, but I consider it a pro. With my other high-performing box, I need to either drag my entire rifle over to my desk, or go through the pain of undoing all of the cable management just to take the box off so I can hook it up to the magnetic charger it came with. With this, all you need to do is throw a couple of 18500 LI-ION batteries in a crane stock compartment, and now you can quick-change in the field.

    The visible green laser is very bright. Please note, when you first receive this laser, IT WILL BE IN LOW POWER MODE. I initially wrote this review for three stars, because I did not know there was a low power and high power mode for the laser. IN ORDER TO ACTIVATE THE HIGH POWER MODE FOR THE LASER: You need to remove, then reinstall the battery. While reinstalling the battery, be sure to hold down both the power up and power down buttons. While doing this and screwing the cap back on, you should see the amber power status indicator light on the side of the box blinking. Once the battery is fully reinstalled, kick the visible green laser on and you can easily see the difference.

    CONS
    The light doesn't seem very concentrated, even after focusing the beam. I also find it to be only as powerful, if not maybe even less so, than my supposedly inferior light/laser box. I do not have the proper equipment to test the IR illuminator or the IR laser, so I cannot speak to that.

    The mountable pressure switch feels far less substantial than the rest of the box. In fact, it almost seems like a complete afterthought. The idea of having both a pressure switch AND a toggle switch probably seemed like a good idea, but it creates an overly busy switch. I will note that the switch is also very difficult to mount to a rail.

    A small gripe, but still a valid one in my opinion, I feel as though the cable for the pressure switch is about half an inch too short. It's manageable as it is, but a bit more length would help out a lot for cable management.

    VERDICT
    Overall, it's a well-built light/laser box that performs quite admirably, considering the price point. I have changed this review from a three star to a five star review because of my own ignorance in not knowing how to properly operate this laser before writing the initial review. Having turned on the high power mode for the laser, I am not very happy with this device. I understand why there is so much hype around it, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced flashlight/laser/IR illuminator box.

I used the focusing scroll wheel, but I was unable to adequately test the light's stream or bloom adjustment; however, it seems to work fine. The button operation and function will definitely take some time to get used to, but I do not have any issues with them. This unit would definitely be great for airsoft.. But as far as reliability on a real firearm, I don't know how well I would trust it. Overall, I'm very happy with it and have no real complaints.
