Product Description
Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the award-winning If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, one of the most beloved children’s books of all time, from the #1 New York Times bestselling team Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond
If a hungry little mouse shows up on your doorstep, you might want to give him a cookie. And if you give him a cookie, he'll ask for a glass of milk. He'll want to look in a mirror to make sure he doesn't have a milk mustache, and then he'll ask for a pair of scissors to give himself a trim....
This book is a great first introduction to Mouse, the star of the If You Give... series and a perennial favorite among children. With its spare, rhythmic text and circular tale, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is perfect for beginning readers and story time!

From 鶹
Who would ever suspect that a tiny little mouse could wear out an energetic young boy? Well, if you're going to go around giving an exuberantly bossy rodent a cookie, you'd best be prepared to do one or two more favors for it before your day is through. For example, he'll certainly need a glass of milk to wash down that cookie, won't he? And you can't expect him to drink the milk without a straw, can you? By the time our hero is finished granting all the mouse's very urgent requests--and cleaning up after him--it's no wonder his head is becoming a bit heavy. Laura Joffe Numeroff's tale of warped logic is a sure-fire winner in the giggle-generator category. But concerned parents can rest assured, there's even a little education thrown in for good measure: underneath the folly rest valuable lessons about cause and effect. Felicia Bond's hilarious pictures are full of subtle, fun details. Fans will be happy to know that this dynamic author-illustrator pair teamed up again for If You Give a Moose a Muffin and If You Give a Pig a Pancake. (Great read aloud, ages 4 to 8) --Emilie Coulter
Review
"A light confection as suited for use in preschool story hours for beginning readers." --"SLJ."
From the Back Cover
If a hungry little traveler shows up at your house, you might want to give him a cookie. If you give him a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk. He'll want to look in a mirror to make sure he doesn't have a milk mustache, and then he'll ask for a pair of scissors to give himself a trim....
The consequences of giving a cookie to this energetic mouse run the young host ragged, but young readers will come away smiling at the antics that tumble like dominoes through the pages of this delightful picture book.

- Reviewed in Canada on January 8, 2024Verified PurchaseI adored this book when I was a kid. It made me so happy to gift this to my friend's young children for them to enjoy as they grow.
The story is interesting and well-written, and keeps you engaged.
But what makes this book even better are the drawings. They are detailed and colourful, and really set off my imagination when I was a child. As I grew, I appreciated the art more and more, and I still feel a strong connection to the images even now, so many years later.
I really recommend this book - it's a good one!

- Reviewed in Canada on April 16, 2024Verified PurchaseI was very pleased to see a refund only 1 week after the book had sold out. Very disappointed because it is a great book "If you give a mouse a cookie" and I was surprised to see it on this site. They sent a very nice kind detailed message which I didn't find until months later . Totally my fault because I just didn't understand where to find the message but just came across it by accident. Very grateful even though it was not an expensive item item it is the principal of having money returned for products not received. Very Stand Up company and would definitely order from them again.
