Product description

The INNOVA Compression Tester Kit is a diagnostic tool which can help you identify damaged pistons, worn rings, burnt valves, and blown head gaskets. It works on conventional, electronic, and computerized domestic and import vehicles. It features a large 2-1/2-inch dial face with accurate Bourdon tube meter movement, dual-calibrated and color-coded scales which reads 0-300 P.S.I and 0-2100 k.P.a. It has a 15-in high-pressure rubber hose which is oil and grease resistant, a side-release valve which allows repeated tests without disconnecting the hose, and 14mm and 18mm adapters that fit most vehicles. A 12mm adapter is also provided which can be used for most motorcycles, ATV's, snowmobiles and marine applications.

    I've owned several compression testers, and so far, this one is my favorite. The thing that really made me want to buy this one in particular is the fact that the hose can be removed from the gauge in order to more easily spin it into your plug socket. At this price point for compression testers, that's kind of rare, and not being able to has given me trouble with other testers. Anyway, The tester arrived, and handily I had an engine that I wanted to compression test just kicking around! I compared the numbers against a known good compression tester, and this guy is accurate to it within a couple of psi. For what you're paying, the inclusion of adapters, and the fact the hose can be removed to make your life easier, I have to give this unit 5 stars. Need to check compression on a budget? Buy one of these guys!

    Seemed to "work" a dozen times, until I compared with a better unit and noticed discrepancies. At one point it stopped working entirely for a few days, "worked" again for a few uses, then stopped functioning for good. The schrader valve failed, but instead of replacing it I just removed the hose and use it as a spark plug adapter for leak tests.

    It is amazing how cheaply they make this stuff. Hold it to tight and it will disintegrate in your hands. Thought that because it was made by INNOVA it might be better but fooled again. BUT it worked as it was supposed to.
