We love this story, but it’s been altered.
We love this story so much, the little boy looks and acts just like my son. Our paperback copy was well worn and I wanted to replace it with a sturdier board book. I was sad to find that this board book has an altered version of the original story, removing entire sentences, and it is now a bit of a clunky read.

    I really wanted to like this book (because the title is adorable) but it’s not one of mine or my sons favourites. It’s not bad though. I find the wording a little clunky to read and unlike his many “favourites” it doesn’t hold his attention through the whole story. It’s cute tho and he might appreciate it more when he’s older (currently only 17 months) and actually knows what a swamp monster, alien, cyclopes etc is.

    My boys loved to hear me read this book before bed. I've actually purchased it a number of times for family members who have had children and they have all really enjoyed it. It's a hard board so it's great for toddlers, but the story isn't childish and my kids enjoyed it until they were about 7yrs old.
