I bought this game the day it came out, and man, it is awesome! First off, this is a light-gun game, meaning that you can use a light-gun peripheral to play it. This game is pure fun from the get go. I highly recommend you get the light-gun along with this game which is the Mad Catz Blaster and is the only light gun currently available for X-Box. The game has the best graphics I have ever seen in a light-gun game. I own Time Crisis 2, Vampire Night, and Endgame on PS2 and have seen/played Dino Stalker and Ninja Assault so I've been there. The graphics are phenomenal. This time around the characters are equipped with a shotgun, so when you shoot you get a wider blast. If you use the light-gun you can reload by shooting off-screen or pressing the button on the grip of the gun, or it will reload for you once you run out of ammo. The gameplay is fast, intense, and the story follows the previous two installments. Another great thing about this game is that it is really two games in one. Once you beat the game you can unlock and enable the complete and full Dreamcast version of "The House of the Dead 2" it is the exact same thing as the Dreamcast version and contains all the same modes (a direct port of the Dremacast version, so no X-Box enhanced graphics), but hey, you get a bonus game in this package, two full shooting games in one, you can't beat that. Some people complain that the game is too short, well the inclusion of House of the Dead 2 more than makes up for this. I think the lenght of the game could have been a bit longer, but it is a light-gun game and you have to keep in mind that people get tired of holding the gun and what not so a 1 or 2 hour light-gun game would not be the best idea. This game is pure fun from the get go. It is a must have for light-gun game aficionados and fans of zombie movies, you get the best of both worlds. Oh yeah, the game also includes a 15 minute feature of the upcoming House of hte Dead motion picture which hits theaters in 2003, this is another great bonus that comes with the game. House of the Dead 3 includes two modes, Survival (the main mode), and Time Attack. House of the Dead 2 has Arcade, Original, Boss Mode, and Training Mode. You can adjust the difficulty for both games and increase or decrease the number of lives and continues to suit your taste. This game is excellent, I have not played it with the controller so I can't help you there, but it works great with the gun. If you love zombie flicks, video games, shooting games, and having a blast then you owe it to yourself to get this game. I highly recommend the gun (Mad Catz Blaster) it works great with the game, accurate, comfortable, and gets the job done. I got to go now, going to blast some more zombies!!!

This game is bad...Some people think that it sucks but i think their CRAZY.Grafics, monsters, bosses, intros, and stages are awesome!First boss is a sucurity gard named"Death" and he chases you through 2 or 3 stages! The second bosses name is"Sun" and he is some kind of weird plant and he is a little bit like tower on"The House Of The Dead2"The next boss is a dead monkey who's name is"Fool"(some weird names huh?)its hard to kill him because he climbs everywhere and when he shakes the cage you have to shoot some dead bodys from the top.And fanily the most hardest boss of all is "Curian" he comes on The House Of The Dead1 and when you kill him you get to play The House Of The Dead2.In order to kill"Curian" you have to shoot him in the heart.6 stages 4 bosses pretty short game but so bad and fun you can sit on the floor close to the tv and play and play and play (just like I did)Oh yeah and i for got something you can also see a short video of how the made The House Of The Dead The Movie

Being a horror fan from way back, I had to get this game. It took some time to find it, but I got it. And I'm glad I did.
The action and graphics on this game are pretty good. If there is a story/plot to it, I'm not sure what it is, because I have too much fun shooting things up.
One bit of advice, invest money in the MadCatz gun designed for Xbox that goes with this game. You can use a controller, but the gun makes the game go easier.
The zombies in the game are pretty cool, and the bosses make the game more interesting, because they're harder to kill.
If you're looking for a fun game, or a stress release, this is the game for you.

If you're like me, you've pumped dollar after dollar into the House of The Dead arcade machine. This game is great! With the Mad Catz Blaster light gun (recomended by the makers of the game) there is fun for hours. I got the game and gun combo for Christmas and it was perfect. The graphics are unbelievable, the shooting is intense, and the gore is thick and juicy. With 2 light guns you can take a friend into the madness. After the game is complered (if you're lucky enough) House of the Dead 2 is unlock for play. Also on the game is a behind the scene look at the up-coming movie cleverly entitiled House of the Dead. As fast as I completed this game it is not easy. There is no way to continue with a handful of quarters. It is a challenge, it is extremely fun. The story line isn't indepth but it closes the book on the House of the Dead story line... or does it?

How can you go wrong with zombie blasting? The game provides plenty of arcade-type action, awesome graphics, and just about nada as far as the plot goes. But as long as you don't expect a storyline on par with Halo, you should have a good time. The game plays fine without a light gun, although the game loses a bit when you use the controller to aim. This is a great game to have around when you only want to play for a few minutes, or you want to relieve some stress. Again, I thought the graphics were superbly done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic fun

I bought this game so I could have another classic lightgun shooter for my homemade arcade setup. I had never played house of the dead 3, but I always loved house of the dead 2 which is included on the disc(after you finish 3 it unlocks 2). Both games are classic arcade shooters at their best. Just remember if you have an HDTV then you can't use the old Xbox lightgun. I purchased the EMS topgun 3 to play all of my old xbox,ps2/3,and pc games. Only complaint I have with HOTD 2 is that I can't figure out the off screen reload so I have to click a button on the gun which isn't a huge deal, but it takes away a little from the original arcade feeling. I would still recommend this game to any fan of arcade style rail shooters. With 2 great games at one low price you can't go wrong. To me the purchase was worth it just to play HOTD 2 again. HOTD 3 was just a bonus.

The House of the Dead III is an arcade shooter where you basically shoot every zombie like monster in sight. You can use a controller with this game so don't worry if you don't have a zapper for your Xbox. Also I'd like to note that the second game in the House of the Dead series is also unlockable in this. So your really getting two games. If you love shooting zombies then there is no way you could go wrong with this game because that's all it's about. Oh yeah, the stories kinda funny too if you have a dark sense of humor.

is a real treat for Xbox....the voice acting is worse than the original Resident Evil but that is not what we care about right!!?? Some people were complaining because it is a "rail" shooter! So what, that is the way FPS started out! It is a great classic for those of you who appreciate old school games and have wasted countless quarters or tokens in arcades in the past.

The game is a real pain in the trigger finger if you don't have auto fire and auto reload. There's a lot of parts where even that barely helps. Other than that the graphics are old school in HOD3 and prehistoric in HOD2 (you must beat HOD3 first to unlock HOD2. This game is on my 17 or 20 inch tube tv's because the 65" plasma I have won't work with the mad catz light gun I purchased with this game. I do have the Wii version of this game and it's the same game down to a t. Needless to say It handed me my head on a tray. My hand and arm cramps up after a few rounds and then I'm dead.
