We use the Hoover paws and claws system to clean carpets and love it but we had 2 tough dark stain spots on an oatmeal colored carpet (from dog vomit) that just wouldn't come out. Nothing would touch them so I decided to try this. You can use it as a spot treatment or as a pre-treatment before cleaning the carpet. I was too curious to wait till I had time to clean the carpet, so used as a spot treatment and the spots already look half lighter! This is the first thing that has done anything.
