- Reviewed in Canada on December 4, 2024Verified PurchaseMy humidifier broke down after many years so I started hunting for a replacement. There was an ocean of brands and reviews to sort through, plus differing costs. I discovered the 鶹 Warehouse deals, and on the Black Friday sale too. And wow, did I hit the jackpot! This humidifier had been previously purchased- they opened the top & it was decided they didn't like the color. So it went back unused. It was in its original packaging, still completely factory sealed, pristine & clean- even the box was perfect. I got a 120$ Honeywell humidifier for 40$. It's a top loading style which is new to me & I love it. One reviewer suggested getting a small pale or bucket with a pouring lip to fill it since it's a nearly 5L tank. I took her advice and it's just great! On low, it runs for approx 18 hours. That setting is enough to humidify my entire main floor which is 1500+ square feet (placing the unit somewhere near an air intake to the furnace helps disperse the moisture well). If I use the high setting, the windows start to get damp as it puts out a lot of steam plus it's cold out, so condensation will happen. I can't come up with any cons, great product and price. Easy to fill & clean. I don't know that I would have purchased this if not for the Warehouse deal, it's original price is a little steep for me. Cheers!
- Reviewed in Canada on February 8, 2025Verified PurchaseSummary: I would take this over an ultrasonic one any day, but it still requires a lot of maintenance. If you have soft water or RO water, then this is a no brainer and you should get it.
Pros:
* Compared to the ultrasonic types these don't disperse bacteria, but for me the worse issue was all the white film that it left on everything around it from minerals in the water
* Is more effective at humidifying in the air as steam rises and evaporates easily
* Internal parts are dishwasher friendly
Cons:
* The mineral deposits get left behind on the heater element, which will need to be descaled often (I am noticing that weekly is accurate)
* This unit is bulky, lots of wasted space that is not the water reservoir. Makes it easier to clean though
* Will get through a tank very quickly
- Reviewed in Canada on December 1, 2024Verified PurchaseAfter much study, I determined that boiling water types like this, distill the water that's released into the air, and the boiling kills bacteria, fungus and mold. Meanwhile, Ultrasonic Humidifiers don't work this way, and instead spews everything found in the water into the air, where you breathe it in. You can develop lung problems breathing in the resultant bacteria passed on by the Ultrasonic cool mist operation. That's why Boiled water operation is best.
TIP: I highly recommend you only use distilled water to prevent scale buildup. I also empty any water remaining the next morning, and simply take the parts out, to dry off daily. Takes 15 seconds. This makes sure no mold develops in the standing water, or on wet parts. I've only needed to clean with vinegar once in 3 weeks, and even then, it was only because I made the mistake of using tap water one night.
The next day, after using tap water once, I could see the buildup of scale starting on the heating element already. Otherwise, by using only distilled water, you can go a month or more without seeing any scale buildup. I highly recommend this boiled water type Humidifier, as the safest choice for your health.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 27, 2025Verified PurchaseWhile it looks good, it (to me) under performs. The water tank is small and I have to constantly be refilling it. The essential oil dispenser does not work and it does not emit a lot of moisture, which is essential in this part of the country.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 17, 2024Verified PurchaseCool-air humidifiers need distilled tap water (or they'll emit a bunch of particles that you shouldn't breathe into the air), but with this one, you can just use tap water.
On high, a full tank will get you about 10.5 hours of steam. It's helped bring our humidity levels up from 25-30% in the typical winter and can maintain humidity in the 40-45% range (based on a humidity sensor elsewhere in the house).
It does require regular maintenance. I find a quick wipe every couple days, followed by a full clean once per week is sufficient. The full clean is easy, it just takes a bit of time. Since all of the minerals came out of the water, you can actually just fill up the boiler side of the humidifier with water (after turning it off), and the minerals will re-dissolve back into the water, and then a quick wipe will get rid of anything else. I leave it full of water for about an hour (or longer if I forget) before coming back to it, but it probably doesn't need that long. If you have especially hard water, or you just want it to work faster, some white vinegar will speed up the process.

This week, the one in my bedroom that I keep on at night made a popping sound. I thought maybe it just needed a cleaning. I turned it off and left it until the morning. While I had the vinegar in it, something told me to just turn it on and see - see video.
Then I noticed some residue below - did a bug get in there and make a nest? Is there a spiderweb or something making a short? NOPE - this thing developed a leak!! I immediately decided to check the second one - and voila, also leaking; it just didn't start sparking up yet.
After seeing the same failure on both of the units that I own, I have to write this review saying - DO NOT BUY, these units are dangerous!
Pictures from both of my units included showing that water gradually makes its way down to the power wires. Video is from the one that started sparking, showing the unit sparking!
1.0 out of 5 starsI have two of these. One about a year and a half, one about two years. They have done a good job of keeping humidity levels high. They get dirty fairly quickly, so I have to clean them every week or two.Works great. Can burn your house down.
