About Us
It’s been nearly four decades since John Harney developed a passion for fine teas. John began his journey in mastering the art of tea blending in his basement. The proprietor of an inn at the time, John served his distinctive blends to his guests; the rest, as they say, is history. From its humble beginnings to today’s international reputation, Harney & Sons has stayed true to its simple promise to deliver the finest quality tea possible. As the third generation of Harneys continues to carry out that mission, including educating tea lovers about fascinating tea traditions and types of tea found around the world, Harney & Sons customers are discovering their own passion for tea through the products and experiences.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 3, 2022Verified PurchaseThis has become our favourite breakfast tea. All of the Harney and Sons teas have been nice, but this is the morning tea we love best. Very tasty and strong. Way better than coffee in the morning.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 15, 2020Verified PurchaseIt is not a bad tea but not perfect either.
Not very aromatic - i mean not flavored, but not aromatic black loose tea as it supposed to be.
Just OK.
- Reviewed in Canada on October 17, 2019Verified PurchaseGreat flavour and a good price.
Hard to find a quality Irish Breakfast tea. This one delivers on the expected flavour.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 10, 2020Verified PurchaseTea tastes great. Tin very tiny looks bigger on line

5.0 out of 5 stars Great morning tea!
Verified PurchaseQuality lose tea leaves, that steep into a bold yet smooth flavor. This tin might seem small but with only having to use a small amount for each cup, it will last a LONG time!

1.0 out of 5 stars Tea Bag Powder, Not Tea Leaves
Verified PurchasePerhaps I got unlikely by getting the very end of a manufacturing batch, but what I received was a can of tea powder. It looked exactly like what you'd find inside a tea bag. Since it was powder, using a standard tea strainer wasn't effective. The result was the same as what happens if a damaged tea bag opens during brewing.
And since this was powder and not actual loose leaf tea, the taste was extremely weak.
I won't be purchasing this brand again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good But Not Strong Enough
Verified PurchaseI enjoy this tea, but it's not my favourite. My main objection is twofold: when brewed as directed, it's pretty mild for an Irish breakfast tea, and milk completely overwhelms it (to say nothing of sugar); but when over-brewed, it's incredibly bitter and sour, and even milk and sugar can't save it. I prefer my breakfast tea REALLY strong, and I'm just not getting that out of this tea blend. It does taste good cold, though, and I like drinking it in the afternoons. I would recommend this for tea novices or people who like light teas.
