These strips perform much the same as the test strips pedalled by our hot tub company. They are a bit different in that they also measure bromine which is useful if you are using that chemical in your hot tub. The results shown by these strips also compare well with a "real" water test that I get done every couple of weeks at our local hot tub supply and service store.

EDIT: I have been able to test how precise they are and they seem to be pretty spot on.

I decided to try out this product since I will fill my spa very soon and will have to test out the water to make sure it is well balanced. This seemed like it would be a great product to test things out.

Included in the packaging is a pack of 100 test strips, a small user guide and a color chart on the bottle to be able to read the results. There is a desiccant packet in the bottle that you have to leave in the bottle to make sure they don’t absorb any moisture.

It is really easy to use. Take a water sample, dip the test strips for about 2 seconds, shake the excess water and wait between 15 and 30 seconds. The first time I did the test this way, there wasn’t any change at all on the test strips. All of the squares showed the same colors as the 0 section on the left. I re-did the test right after, but didn’t shake off the excess water. It did make a difference, the squares were showing actual results. It seems like the excess water showed the results, but not the squares themselves. I shook off the excess water and the results disappeared… I don’t think it’s supposed to work that way.

I really don’t know what to think about the products. Considering I had to do the test in a different way to have some kind of results and that I don’t know how accurate they are, I don’t think I would recommend them. I will have to use another test kit to see if I can get more precise results.

So i’ll admit, I rarely test my water. I started years ago with a multi-chemical program, but it was such a pain in the ass to follow (and expensive) that I just changed to a floating puck dispenser, and it keeps my water crystal clear for the most part. That said, I know the water isn’t ideal as I will often get dry and a little irritated on some parts of my body after using the tub. So I figured I’d try these strips out to see if there was anything I could improve on. Well, I followed the isntructions exactly, and after 30 seconds of waiting, it’s like the colors on the strip haven’t changed at all. I KNOW I have lot’s of chlorine in my tub, but it shows nothing per the strip colors. In fact, I put the used strip side by side with an new unused one (see image) and there is practically no difference. I even tested a couple more strips, and absolutely no change. I’ll try to test against other water sources. The airtight seal on the inner bottle was unbroken, so really not sure what to say other than disappointed at this point.

I am comparing them to the test strips I have been using and they line up mostly but there are some discretions when it comes to hardiness and it isn't always the same when I re test it. I can't say for sure my original strips aren't the issue but I can't say for sure these will test everything accurately.

I have both a Bromine Hot Tub and Chlorine pool so it is nice to get test strips that do both.
In comparison to the other brands I have these did test accurately as far as test strips go (ie. give you general indication of levels). Value is good. Cheaper then the standard brand and has twice as many strips.

Only issue I had is the Hardness reading seems off. I compared to another test kit and it this one showed Calcium as High (Left) while the other brand showed it as low (Right). I had just changed the water and had it tested at a pool shop and it was low (which it always would be as I have a water softener).

For years, I used the little drops to test my pool water - wow are these a convenience! You grab a dipstick (make sure your hands a dry!), hold in the water, and wait, and you get a great picture of the water quality and levels. I am (as most pool owners are) most concerned with Ph and chlorine, and this gives me an indication of what I need to do daily.

I love these strips, I find them to give an accurate reading, and wow are they easy to use.
