It makes the life easier
So far, I have used it 4-5 times and am super happy with the product. It's super easy, has a decent size, is very fast and strong enough for regular home-kitchen uses. I would be happier if the 3 speeds on dial control were significantly different. Actually they all are too fast and the chopping results are almost the same: too fine.

I have owned a Cuisinart mini prep for almost 20 years now. It's always been handy for things like finely chopping veggies and nuts, but it's size makes it virtually useless for preparing things like dips (something I do fairly often) due to the small bowl size. I recently decided to look for a larger unit, but wasn't necessarily looking for something that had all the 'bells and whistles'. I wanted something mainly just to chop, grind and occasionally, purée. As part of the process of narrowing down my options, I decided to compare prices on 鶹, as well as (of course) read all the customer reviews. When it came to my wants/needs and budget, this one seemed to fit the bill, but it was the positive and informative customer reviews that ultimately decided things for me. For my intended usage I am completely satisfied with what this unit is capable of and how it performs, but there are a few things that would, IMHO, make it more deserving of a full five stars. First: this is extremely loud when in use. I knew that before I bought it and decided that (for the price) it was not a deal breaker, but it IS really annoying and I would definitely prefer something quieter. Second: trying to remove the chopping blade, especially when the bowl is full, can be difficult. The first things I prepared using this unit, was hummus and a spicy black bean dip. The weight of the dips (a full bowl of dip) created a suction that made removing the blade a real struggle. The centre part of the blade, which is made of a smooth, tapered plastic, became very slippery, making it almost impossible to get a good grip. I think some kind of a lip around the top of the cone would help make it easier to grasp. Also, like so many things theses days, this seems to be made almost entirely of plastic which, quite honestly, looks and feels really cheap. Whether or not it is durable, well, I guess only time will tell....I love that the lid can be turned upside down for storage, I find that very helpful and space saving. The suction cups on the bottom of this unit, which prevent it from moving around while in use, are helpful, however, they also make it a real pain to maneuver it in and out of my cupboard.
Bottom line? This is certainly not a 'perfect' unit, but whatever flaws it may have (I feel) are relatively minor when factoring in price. I am completely satisfied with my purchase.

I love fruit and vegetables but hate prep work...Did my research and was considering between this Hamilton Beach 70740 8 Cups and Cuisinart Custom 14 Cups (which is 5 times more expensive). Both have great reviews from reliable research and rating sites, but the more expensive Cuisinart has a better rating for noise (I am very sensitive to noise) and has an extra large feeding tube (as I said, I hate prep). At the same time, Cuisinart Custom 14 has worse rating than 70740 for chopping and slicing vegetables and dicing them for salsa (which is the primary purpose that I had in mind for the processor). Both dishwasher safe top rack (no sanitizing). Noise rating difference was 89 for Cusinart and 79 for HB 70740, and considering that HB was better suitable for slicing, dicing, chopping and shredding, I decided to give HB a chance (well, price was also a consideration but only after noise and performance).

HB 70740 is a keeper. Yes, it is too noisy for my liking, yet putting a towel underneath it lowers the noise to the comfortable level - I am no longer looking to try Cuisinart Custom 14. Yes, I would love an extra large feeding tube (hence, 4 star and not five) but it's not that small and 2 inch by 3.5 inch chunks of cabbage comfortably fit in it. Tried the unit for slicing carrots and beets, chopping potatoes and onions, and shredding cheese (after freezing cheese in the freezer for 20 min). All came out well but PULSE produces the best results. Should have read the Tips and Techniques in the Manual before trying the processor, not after...Thus, in my books, the winner is HB 70740 but it is NOT recommended by the manufacturer for kneading dough, grinding grain, coffee beans or spices (alas, nut flours and butters would have to be made with my 1400W blender), not for slicing frozen meat (who would want to contaminate plastic parts with meat anyways?) and not for crushing ice. If you are looking for a processor for the "not recommended" uses, you will have to pass on this one.

My old Braun food processor did a terrific job for 30 years and still works but the replacement bowl/container would cost triple the amount of a new food processor.
I decided to try this Hamilton Beach processor because a lot of the other brands offer more than I needed. All I wanted was a food processor that grated a fine grate, sliced a fine slice and chopped nuts. I have arthritis in my hands so I also wanted a unit that was easy to put together and take apart. Since we have downsized to a smaller home with less cupboard space…I also wanted a small appliance.
This little unit is not only very reasonably priced it checks all the boxes of what I was looking for.
It is amazingly powerful. There are only three notches in the power switch 1, 2 and pulse. For what I use it for…this is plenty. It comes with one chopping blade and one blade disk (flip it over for slice or grate). Again, simplicity is the charm of this unit.
I would recommend this product to anyone who does not require all the bells and whistles of the larger units and has limited storage space.
Hopefully, this little buddy will be in my kitchen for a long time. Thank you Hamilton Beach for creating such a great little machine!

I can't believe this thing only cost $28. I've never owned a food processor in my life - I've always had this weird thing about having to chop everything by hand. And I cook a LOT. But I was finally thwarted by falafel - I had a grinder attachment for my KitchenAid that was just not cutting it, and my blender wasn't cutting it for the hummus I also love to make on the regular. Both made these simple foods take too long to prepare and make a huge mess. So I decided to initiate the Food Processor Experiment. This thing had great reviews so I thought it would probably be a good test subject.

I had a batch of soaked chickpeas on deck and ready to go when this thing arrived in the mail (oh I love Prime.. as close as you can get to instant gratification). The first thing I threw in there was a big bunch of cilantro and parsley. Packed to the brim. Pulverized to perfectly uniform bits in seconds. I think I screamed. I took out the greens and next I threw in five cloves of whole garlic. Instantly shredded into fairly uniform bits, the size you'd get from chopping by hand. Then added two huge jalapeno peppers and some onions. Five seconds later, they are obliterated. At this point, I'm snapchatting the before and after photos of my chopped food to my sister and boyfriend, who are laughing at me. After all, I'm 27 years old, it's not like I've never witnessed modern technology before.

Finally, I removed the previously mentioned ingredients and did the beans. Amazingly, they didn't stick, whole beans didn't float at the top while the bottom layer was turned to mush, but I think I did about 4-5 cups of whole beans at a time and let it go for 45-60 seconds and the falafel was perfectly ground with excellent uniform particle size and cohesion. They were my best batch yet.

Since then I've been tossings things in there willy nilly, just to try out the shredding disc as well as the chopping blade. Made some almond and hazelnut flour from raw nuts. Sliced a whole bunch of celery and beets, cabbage, onion, with the shredding disc.

    My favorite things:
    - It's idiot proof and easy to click the bowl onto the base with one hand.
    - Easy to clean
    - The chopping blades are spaced well so that food at the top is drawn down toward the blade and your whole substance receives a uniform chop.
    - 8-cups is perfect. I think 10 cups would be too big for anything, really. I have made batches of food big enough for 10 people with this size easily.

My only gripes with this processor...
    - It only has two speeds: 1 "Really High", and 2 "Insanely High". The Pulse function pulses at "Insanely High." So you can't really coarsely chop things like greens.
    - It is extremely loud. Think: laying your face directly against a vacuum cleaner. Or, a cheap hand mixer at its highest speed. If you live in an apartment your neighbors will definitely know when you're a-processin.' On the other hand, it'll only be for a few seconds because dang this thing is powerful.
    - Because of the high speeds, it is difficult to get uniform slicing when doing small/soft things like green onions or cucumbers with the shredding/slicing disc. It is just so fast that after the green onions get past the point where you can hand-feed it into the chute, they just get sucked in and shredded from whichever angle they hit the slicing blade. So, I had a bunch of green onions which were perfectly tiny cross sections, and a bunch of long skinny shreds of green onion that had been sliced longitudinally rather than axially. This wasn't a problem for harder things like onion, beets, and cabbage. which I was fine with being sliced that way. (If anyone has ideas on maneuvering around this, leave a comment!)

If I could change anything, I would give it a low speed setting.

Nevertheless, that doesn't change my overall starry-eyed adoration for this amazing contraption. It is an excellent value and super powerful for its price. I am very, very happy with this purchase. $30 well spent.

Love this! It’s powerful, blends quickly, easy to use. We use this almost everyday from, grating cheese and veggies, making hummus, and dips, grinding nuts, everything you can think of.

We had to buy a second one because the plastic lid broke due to it just falling in the ground. With that said, be careful what you put inside or if you’re using a utensil to scrape make sure a is plastic( spatula)
