    The smell is pleasant for us, we're all sensitive to smells but this one is not offensive for anyone in this house, nor even the cat. Seems to work well though our rugs/carpets/upholstery was not in terrible condition. I find that good technique is key, and the carpet formula is but 1 important brick in that wall. For our home I think 2-3 times a year and spot cleaning for any unfortunate accidents will suffice. From our experiences, tips for best results: thorough vacuuming prior, extra water passes (before and after), cleaning/maintaining your machine, judicious use of the soap solution, slowly going through passes, overlapping passes.

    I recently tried this carpet cleaner liquid and was disappointed by the strong and unpleasant smell. Previously, I used the same brand with the tropical breeze scent, which was amazing. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this particular cleaner liquid due to its off-putting odor.
