Product description

To make the Fabric & Batting Tube, place a thin batting strip on the wrong side of a 2.5in fabric strip. Feed the layered (fabric & thin batting) strip, batting side up, into the wide end of the Jelly Roll (tm) Tube Maker. If needed, place a sewing awl in the slot on the tool to pull the layered strip through. Then fold the now magically folded, layered strip in half as it comes out the other end & place under the sewing machine presser foot ready to stitch. Keep the Jelly Roll Tube Maker close to the sewing machine & slide along as you sew. This product works best with 2-1/2in precut batting strips. The metal Jelly Roll Tube Maker may be used with or without an iron (with caution) for other similar technique projects. This made my JRR tube making go way faster! Just have everything ready to go and a stylus or stiletto ready to pull your fabric, then batting through the binding tool. It folds inside so be ready to straighten the folded section on the new side and keep everything straight on the way going in. I Wonder Clip about 2’ then sew it then do another 2/3 feet and sew again. It’s not rocket science but it does take practice. Depends on the fabric if I use this or the Clover Tool. Two rugs shown bothe made with Gypsy Quilter tube maker.

    The Jelly Roll Tube Maker by the Gypsy Quilter is the ONLY tool I recommend for making jelly roll tubes.

    I previously tried the Jelly Roll Sasher by Pauline Rogers and found it not effective. It was nearly impossible to slide the batting and fabric through the sasher and the resulting ‘tube’ was more a mash and resulted in the batting stretching and twisting. It earns a double thumbs up from me!

    By contrast, the Jelly Roll Tube Maker by the Gypsy Quilter glides smoothly, does not stretch either the fabric or the batting (making more consistent tubes) and can easily be operated by oneself. The sasher was a challenge to use even with someone guiding the fabric for me.
