The whole-bean hopper is just a bit too small for how I make coffee, but for most people it's probably adequate. I'm not pulling espresso shots so I can't speak to the details of the grind quality, but for an aeropress or pour over it's easy to dial in the grind you want.

    I bought this little grinder to specifically coarse-grind the beans for a French Press. It works, but... the grind adjustment is just a knob on the bottom of the grinder and there are just click-stops for the grind level. I had to put some beans in and try a bunch of different settings to approximate the coarseness I needed for the French Press. This, too, eventually was ok, but... to manually grind 55g of beans is pure torture. It's a slow process, and the hopper only holds 20g or so. This was noted in the description, but I thought it would grind faster. After 2 refills of the hopper (40g or so), my hand and wrist hurt. A lot. But... I used my deWalt cordless drill to do the rest. Luckily, the grinder handle is detachable and leaves just enough of the bolt to attach the drill chuck to. Worked like a charm.

    I can't imagine how long it would take to grind finer for drip or espresso.

However, when I go up to babysit when their normal daycare is unavailable, he digs out his old drip machine, and makes Folgers-because I do drink a lot of coffee, and I get it-those pods are expensive. Even though I’m saving them many times what they cost in babysitting fees…but I bought this, and a small French press, and I grind my own beans when I am up there and make my own-much, much better than Folgers—coffee. This is small and portable and works well for my purposes.
