- Reviewed in Canada on July 17, 2017Verified PurchaseI purchased this so I could mount my iPhone on the spotting scope I use at the gun range so I didn't have to keep getting up from my shooting position to verify the impact point of my previous shot. I have come to love this adapter, it works perfectly but at first I found the case I keep my phone in it would slide a bit after a while and the lens would move out of line from the phones camera. but I found if I put a thin strip of rubber between the phone and the adapter it doesn't move all day even in the summer heat and humidity.
Aside from the one small issue I listed above the adapter is well built using metal and plastic parts, sitting on a bench for hours hanging from a scope none of the screws back out and I've seen no signs of wear or fatigue in all the months I've been using it, it sill looks as good as the day I got it from 鶹.
The first couple times you use it you will have issues learning how to line up the phones camera to the scope and that you have to zoom a little bit on the camera to get the scope picture maximized on screen. I'm not sure if it's the same for telescopes but on my spotting scope the zoom ring is where it's grabbing onto the eye piece so if I put it on wrong the weight of the phone will actually zoom out the scope small thing but just remember to mount it in a way that gravity won't affect your scope.
Oh and if you are using a phone like I am, get an external battery power pack to plug your phone into I leave the phone on almost all the time I'm on the range (4-5 hours) and having the camera up and slightly zoomed in uses a lot of power so just a heads up.
Would I buy this again, yes I would I have actually pointed out this mount to other members of my gun club who like how having a camera on the scope is a really nice thing to have.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 22, 2017Verified PurchaseI purchased my son a telescope as he "wanted to see into space", and I live by a rule, that if your 4 year old is curious about something like that, do everything you can to nurture it. After picking up a pretty decent telescope I quickly realized that he was neither co-ordinated enough nor patient enough to look through the eyepiece. So... I bought this adapter.
At first glance I was impressed by the sturdiness and build quality of the item. It's made of mostly metal and feels quite sturdy when attached. I was a little concerned before I bought it that my phone wouldn't fit as I have an iPhone 7+ with an otterbox but the adapter adjusted to fit my phone without a problem. Once attached it's pretty secure and your phone isn't going anywhere unless you want it to. However it's sturdiness may be a bit of a double edged sword as the combined weight of the phone and adapter put a lot of strain on the eyepiece and I found through time the weight could cause it to shift and the camera would no longer align properly with the lens. This would mean you would have to adjust it and it gets quite finicky trying to get everything aligned properly. However this is more the nature of trying to align a cellphone camera with a telescope eye piece than it was any problems with the adapter itself.
So I got everything attached and I was ready for my son and I to explore the outer limits of space, I had the telescope ready was about to go outside and.... it started raining. And it's been pretty much raining, cloudy, or freezing outside since I got this set up. So instead of discovering planets, meteors, stars, hell maybe aliens... I was taking pictures of a lamp post 500 yards away. Oh well hopefully I'll be snapping some pictures of the moon soon enough.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 6, 2021Verified PurchaseGot this to use with my pair of Vortex Diamondback HD binoculars paired with a newer Samsung Galaxy s21 with an Otter box defender case on it.. It works and everything but this is not something you can just whip on real quick while birding or whatever. It takes a lot of tinkering around to put on right. And then the more you zoom in the camera switches between the three lenses. so you have to tinker and slide the adapter each time. So either set this thing up before you head out birding or be prepared to tinker lots in the field. Also a tripod and adapter would be recommended. Also set up my camera to take pictures by voice command so I an take pictures while looking through the binoculars and not have to push any buttons.
Overall, it's decent and gets the job done.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 12, 2024Verified PurchaseThe product is straightforward to put together and will mount fine on the telescope eyepiece. The issue is the lack of compatibility with more recent iPhone models (12 and up). Alignment of the three cameras with the eyepiece requires the adapter clamps rest on control buttons. Completely useless as a result.
If you got caught buying this, you can at least use the bottom clamp to screw into a tripod quick release plate - you can mount your phone then for stable photography, albeit somewhat elevated to avoid contact with the control buttons.
Or MacGyver a hollow bracket that doesn't touch the control buttons but clamps to pressure points on the phone outside of the buttons, then clamp this on. But who has time to 3d print that....
- Reviewed in Canada on September 13, 2021Verified PurchaseThe Gosky cell phone adapter has a sturdy aluminum eyepiece mount (which is very good) and plastic fittings for the smart phone clamp (which is okay) . The sliding half moon eyepiece to camera lens alignment plate seems to be causing difficulties for some to set up so I removed the alignment plate from my adapter, mounted the eyepiece clamp it to my binoculars and then slid my Galaxy (camera on) into the adapter until the image was full screen...tightened up the phone clamp and was taking a picture in less than a minute. I had the corners of my image rounded off so I gave the camera some zoom while checking the screen until I had a full image. All in all a very versatile adapter that I trust to keep my phone safe while in use.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 3, 2024Verified PurchaseHolds my Samsung Galaxy 23 FE to my Vortex spotting scope the way it's supposed to and works better than my buddies very expensive machined aluminum one. Would buy again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth it! Takes practice but it lets you photograph, record, and share!
Verified PurchaseThe media could not be loaded.
Quality is amazing, with solid aluminum, steel and ridged plastic construction, with padded mounts for your phone and eyepieces, it should last for years.
Mounting the device is simple enough, though for smaller eyepieces I found the mount loose – at no fault to the adaptor. This is easily remedied by inserting a folded business card or tissue between the mount and the eyepiece.
At first you may struggle getting any image at all until you figure out that you need to take into account all three axes. You not only have to align your phone with the eyepiece, you must also adjust the pitch, roll, and yaw until you have a centered image. Distance from the eyepiece also matters and depending on the optics, you may find better results having the adaptor’s clamp flush with the edge of the eyepiece, leaving a gap between the phone’s camera and the eyepiece, or a closer mount may work better.
Once everything is adjusted, don’t be surprised if the image is not as bright or as large as what you would see using just your eyes – typically you’ll see the circular image taking up a small fraction of the screen. Once again, no fault to the adaptor – this is purely a result of using a phone camera in a manner it wasn’t intended to be used. Zooming in on the image does a good job at using your screen real-estate.
Locking the focus of your camera will also prevent image fluctuation, though it tends to darken the view. Adjust the image brightness accordingly.
The video and images below were taken with an iPhone 5 at 4x and 10x using the My First Lab Duo-Scope Microscope - MFL-06 available here on 鶹. You'll note that you don't need a professional level microscope to see the paramecium and amoebas. I also mounted it on our Kyowa Lumiscope 6TI5T6 microscope (which has fantastic optics and fine-control) and on a small telescope- no issues.
I’d love it if there was a deluxe model that had would have knobs to allow you to fine-tune the pitch, roll, and yaw of the camera placement, though that might make it too bulky as well as a lower clamp to record your cell phone’s position, making future use a drop and load.
Supplemental software would also work wonders – something that would allow you to broadcast to your computer a real-time feed of what your phone is capturing. (If anyone knows of such a product for iOS, please reply in the comments!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Ottimo
