I've tried like a half dozen of these things. This is my second favourite one. It works well like the Tubshroom, but it's two piece nature makes it easier to pull and clean. Still, my drain got backed up when I was having showers with a noticeable amount of water. If you want to plug your drain to have a bath, you have to pull it out.

Oxo has a two piece system--a thin drain/hair catcher with a separate cover that seals the drain. Generally, I find it easiest to leave that in place. I don't have baths, but the cover is handy to clean it.

Umbra makes a one piece popup thing that's OK, but seems to get backed up quickly and isn't as easy to clean. It's handy because it's not two pieces...

These things all linger in my bathroom, ghosts of amazon purchases past. Also, I'm a dude and have not much hair (on my head at least) so if there's long female hair involved here your mileage my vary.

Edit: after 9 months it’s working fine but the underside rubber has acquired black mould spots which are very stubborn and impossible to clean fully.

We had a 3D-printed hair catch that worked OK for a number of years but needed to be replaced (old/clogs happening more frequently). I thought I'd try this OXO shroom-style catcher given I really do like most other OXO products I have. This one is no exception, it is simple to install, easy to maintain, and catches a lot of hair.

I find we end up "cleaning" it every few days, and that consists of removing the center element, wiping the hair off with a tissue, and reinstalling it - all of 10 seconds time. If installed correctly, it also does not interfere with drainage in the tub/shower -- I've found the element that sits in the drain needs to dip down just slightly, but the outer ring band is designed to do this. It's hard to explain, but will make sense when you install it. Just make sure it looks inset.

Best of all, no clogs in the drain since we put it in.
