    You need this extension rod if you are inserting a Good Directions weathervane into the top of a cupola. The rod that comes with the weathervane is not long enough to do this.

    I got this because I wanted to have a base support and a weathervane added to the base support.

    This does raise the weathervane a little higher. The problem is that not all weathervane's use the standard screw-on tip that's on this adapter.

    I ended up drilling out the weathervane insertion hole and epoxy bonding it to the extension rod.

    This weathervane does work for the good direction weathervane'.. If you're getting any other model it may not work
