The texture reminds me of clear glue. Not your average spot treatment.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 27, 2025I’m a fan of the aesthetics of the tube it comes in. It’s what attracted me to the product in the first place actually - the clever use of complementary colours (lilac purple and light green) in a gradient on the box with the company name/logo in iridescent sheen. Cute! I also like that it includes zinc + willow bark extract (tho they are the last on the list so in small quantity), as well as tea tree oil and tangerine fruit extract. It’s a clear gel like substance that squeezes out easily. It seems to come as part of what’s meant to be a set (this being step 2).
10% off 10$ - so costs 9$ for 10ml. At that price you hope to only need small amounts at a time. We’ll see if it ends up being worth it.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 24, 2025This blemish treatment gel is not bad. It comes out in a small drop. You don't need alot at one time. It was a little thick but absorbed into my skin. It dries though and is visible even though it is clear going on. I didn't put makeup over it because of the way it dries. I use it when I am at home and before bed. It worked okay without giving me any irritation.
- Reviewed in Canada on May 6, 2025Verified PurchaseThe only problem I have with this so far is the fact it's not even a full tube like a waste of packaging or just overall lack of product. The code for the free lip glaze they shoved in there doesn't work idk why it was even in there. I hope it atleast works as a product.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 7, 2025This Glossmetics Check Mate Spot Clearing Blemish gentle is a clear gel with a glue-like consistency that is meant to be applied to an active pimple. The gel comes in a tube with a thin nozzle, so it's easy to dispense a small amount precisely.
The texture of this gel is very unique. It really feels like glue - very thick and sticky. I find it difficult to get a thin enough layer on the pimple, as the gluey texture is difficult to spread. The gel dries clear, and provides a protective layer overtop of the pimple that is meant to sit underneath makeup. Unfortunately I just can't get this product to work with makeup. No matter how thin I apply the gel, it starts peeling and lifting as soon as it dries. This leads to having strips of dried gel that peel up and flop off of my skin. Once dried, this gel looks like a peeling sunburn- you know, when a thin layer of your skin peels off in strips? It's not a good look!
I can't really speak to whether this gel actually works or not, as I wasn't able to wear it long enough to see any results. The longest I was able to keep this gel on my face was about ten minutes, because no matter what, once it has dried it is going to peel off.
This pimple gel is a good idea in theory, but it just wasn't able to execute on my skin. I didn't like this pimple gel, it feels gimmicky and it didn't work for me at all. I wouldn't recommend this product.

- Reviewed in Canada on May 2, 2025The product has a gel-like, slightly sticky consistency and is easy to apply. It dries fast and has been working really well to diminish my spots. It’s also helped with redness and relieve the irritation I occasionally get on some areas of my face. A bonus is that Glossmetics is also vegan and cruelty free. Recommended.

- Reviewed in Canada on April 2, 2025This spot treatment just isn't it for me. I love that it is fragrance free, but that's were my like for it ends. I have combination skin and currently going through bad acne. I was hoping this spot treatment would help, but it hasn't. The formula just doesn't seem to sink into the skin. It feels like glue that weirdly hardens and can be peeled off. It hasn't helped anything. It's just not for me.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 1, 2025I got this as the listing description seems to describe it as a non-sticker version of acne patches (which I've had a lot of success with for at-home and overnight use). The listing also suggested as a "pro tip" to use the patches at night and this spot treatment during the day, and also claimed that it could be used under make-up.
Well, thank goodness the first time I used this was at home! This stuff goes on clear (albeit slightly gooey as it's a gel), BUT it eventually dries as a protective film that flakes slightly at the edges... Even when applied as a "thin layer" as recommended, it will create a film that is visible at the edges.
The first time I tried this was under make-up as I work from home and happened to have some video calls to do that day and wanted to conceal some blemishes while treating it with this. It held up for the short half-hour call, but I was startled to find my makeup flaking at the areas where I had applied the spot treatment about halway through the work day.
I tried this spot treatment on its own overnight, and I woke up to the same thing - little patches of dried product over my blemishes.
So, it seems like this is similar to acne patches in that they create a protective barrier over your acne spots and provide treatment for your acne simultaneously. In this way, this gel is a more eco-friendly option than disposable patches. However, I would caution against using this outside of your home unless you want to be molting while out and about.
- Reviewed in Canada on March 15, 2025As a former aesthetician who specialized in skin therapy for the better part of the last decade, I have to admit that this targeted treatment does not miss.
Keep in mind that this is a peel-off mask. So, I highly recommend using it on a freshly washed and dried face (dab with a paper towel) before bedtime.
Even though I’m yet to test the theory myself, I think you could very well get away with applying this before applying your foundation, and it would go on effortlessly without introducing contamination to the spot.
It dries completely in about 15 minutes, and you should only apply it directly on top of your pimple. For me, I used it around 10 PM and let it sit on overnight into the next morning.
Personally, it’s gently enough to use around my lip line and close to my eyes since I get pimples on the bridge of my nose from wearing my glasses and the blackheads along my lipline are usually caused by lipsticks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy To Use
This range is packaged in a way that suggests it is aimed at a relatively young audience, and the product works reasonably well. I think these kind of products are better used without putting make up on top so would rather use it at night but it does seem to dry up spots if left on overnight, but not sure how well it would sit under make up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good to have
Dries up spots well and useful to have on hand if you are prone to acne or similar. The tube has a very aesthetic look and the colours are good, tube has a lot of information and ingredients on. A little goes a long way with this and it will last a good while.

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't Work So Well
This product was a bit of a miss for me. First of all - it's not for use during the day. It's visible on the skin after application so it's really only for overnight. It's a gel that stays thick once applied. It didn't seem to do much in terms of getting rid of blemishes quickly, they didn't get worse but I'd try something else. I happen to really like this brand otherwise, this product just didn't work for me.

I wasn't blown away with the results. Very sticky.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not quite sure
I'm not too sure about this product. It leaves a very shiny film when the gel dries down, and it gradually peels off throughout the day. I definitely would not put makeup over this due to the peeling. It did help with one of blemishes that was a bit irritated, red and inflamed. After placing this product on top of it, it did calm down by a lot and the redness and inflammation was gone. I will have to use it more to see if it is effective.
