A Comparative Review - The Glocusent Original Neck Light and the Glocusent Ergonomic Light
I own both of these lights which have been a great addition to knitting in low level lights. I like them both — both great purchases. But the Ergonomic Light is far superior for two reasons: (1) there is a LOCK button on the back of the neck of the device so you can LOCK it from accidentally turning on — a major flaw in the Original Light, and (2) there is an indicator on the Ergonomic Light showing how much battery life remains.
Other major differences:
The Ergonomic Light has pre-set timer (30 or 45 minutes) which you can set so your light turns off in case you fall asleep, thus saving battery life. There is no timer on the Original Light.
Both Lights have three different color temperatures (amber, warm and cool) - Ergonomic Light (2700K, 4000K and 6000K) and Original Light (1800K, 3200K and 6000K). You also have the ability to adjust the intensity of the light Ergonomic Light (5 adjustments) and the Original Light (3 adjustments). You select the light temperature and the brightness on both models. It is simply a matter of preference and needs.
The Original Light is 4.85 oz and the Ergonomic Light is 5.75 oz. The Original light’s arms are shorter, and the Ergonomic Light seems more flexible.
On the neck of the Ergonomic Light, there are two silicon pads which elevate the device off your neck and hold it in place. There is a felt pad on the Original Light. Both devices have a USB-C charging port and come with a charging cable that is USB-C to USB-A. All of my devices at home are USB-C to USB-C so the cable is unnecessary for my needs.
I am sorry that I waited so long to purchase my the Original Light. It had been on my list for over a year. When I recently traveled with the Original Light, by the time I arrived home, it had turned on and my battery was significantly depleted. I’m leaving for a long vacation soon, and I will be traveling with the Ergonomic Light. But I have uses for both — one for travel and one by my bedside.
These are both great products. If I had to choose which one, I would select the newer improved Ergonomic Light, especially since there is not a great price difference. Thank you, Glocusent! I’m very pleased.
