A19 SHAPE review. If you don't have internet at your place, like you are about to move in, then these are a bit tricky to set up. The gist is that you connect them to a 2.4Ghz connection and then you can control them from 5 Ghz or over the air internet or whatever. But during setup, I used a hotspot on my phone. For whatever reason, these (the A19 shaped bulbs) would not connect to the app on the same phone as my hotspot. I eventually resolved the issue by bringing a second phone to connect to my hotspot. Curiously I also own the PAR20 shaped bulbs and they connected to my hotspot phone just fine. Just keep in mind you might need two devices if using your phone to connect. That could be why some people reported having issues pairing.
Also buy a couple extra bulbs to return in case the ones you bought absolutely will not pair.
The app itself is really easy to use and you can control multiple bulbs to set particular brightness and warmness. It only can save one different color scheme at a time though as far as I could tell. So you can go from white/warm white to christmas, but not white/warm white to ocean theme to christmas. To do that you'd have to manually change multiple bulbs. That said, I can finally turn off every light in the house with one button, which is a huge bonus. It also allows you to control bulbs that are really difficult to reach, like security lights, backyard sconces, etc. Excellent
edit: still excellent but I ran into a quirk: if you leave a lightbulb on long enough (as I do, 24/7) it will eventually disconnect from the network and act offline. I have a scheduled off/on cycle on weekdays to address this but you can manually power cycle your lightbulbs
