Performance and Technology:
There are many things I appreciate about this 40W USB-C wall charger. The Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology offers superior performance and thermal management. I'm not quite sure which generation is present here, however, as it is not listed in the specifications. At 40W, I consider this level of power to be the starting point for your EDC kit solo charging needs. You can charge most modern laptops at a decent rate, easily max out your phone’s input capabilities, and charge multiple devices or power banks. The ability to supply PD (Power Delivery) to iPhones or Androids is an additional and appreciated functionality.

Design and Portability:
While I appreciate the convenience of having a built-in retractable USB C cable, it does add some size and weight to the unit. I think I would have preferred carrying my own cables and having two available ports on a smaller device. It’s not a deal breaker, just a personal preference.

Overall Impression
Having said that, I will be keeping this highly portable 40W charger in one of our travel bags for charging devices on shorter overnight or weekend stays where space isn’t quite as big a premium. Overall I feel the listed $26.99 to be a fair price, and if you are looking for a decent wattage, multi-device charger with the convenience of a built-in USB-C cable, I think this is an excellent choice.

I have a lot of chargers and a lot of different charging cords floating around my house. (Also, a lot of electronic items that use those charges and cords.) As I slowly have my electronic items use the USB C standard only, I am finally not needing so many cords as frequently!

Nothing I bring with me except my Surface tablet uses anything but USB C now, so this is the "perfect" charger to grab for "last minute' or in your "go bag" IMO. Because the retractable cord is "attached" you won't be left without one if you only have time to just grab this charger.

It is a 40W PD GaN charger so you get PD charging which is very good. (Though I have 65W and 100W PD GaN charging blocks without a retractable cord that have "more usefulness" they were more expensive and DON'T have a retractable cord reeled up inside the charging block which IS handy I must admit! This charger with retractable cord is about the same size as those 65W and 100W PD GaN chargers without retractable cords. So, that is the "trade off" it seems. The "all in one convenient package" of this 40W PD GaN charger with a retractable cord or the higher power charging blocks where you have to make sure you bring the cords you need! Both have value and fulfill a "need" IMO.

The 40W speed will charge your iPhones fast and most other products too "require" under the 40W of this product for fast charging. (It's a PD GaN charger so it IS a "fast charger" for anything that requires less than 40W.) As mentioned before it is a good size for having a retractable cord inside and is something I am glad to have in my "charging arsenal"! A well built product with a unique functionality many GaN chargers do not have.

My New Compact Travel Charger of Choice

When I travel, I usually bring a charger with multiple cables for all the potential scenarios that I might need it. When I really thought about it, I really only need 1 or 2 usb c cables nowadays. I love the fact that this comes with a cable and it's in a compact retractable package. The bonus is that it pushes 40w which helps charge everything but my laptop. I used this on an airplane (if your plane has outlets) to charge my phone instead of using the super slow usb ports that are usually available. I do wish that the cable is a little bit longer, like maybe another foot, but I also recognize that would make it even larger which would compromise its compactness. Overall, this has been a great travel companion for me. I do carry around a longer usb c cable for those times I need it since this also has an extra usb c port.

I confirmed that either port can individually deliver the stated 40W, which is excellent. During full power charging, the unit gets a little warm but never felt excessively hot. The retractable cable is a highlight, measuring a generous 33 inches (longer than many similar chargers) and retracting smoothly with a good spring mechanism. For a charger housing this much cord, it's also fairly compact.

The only notable point is its performance when both ports are used simultaneously. I observed a combined output of around 15W. The specifications mention "5V 3A" for dual-port use, which aligns with my findings if this refers to the total shared output, not per port. This was a bit lower than I initially hoped for from a "40W" dual charger.

Conclusion:
Overall, I'm quite happy with this charger, especially for its single-port performance, excellent retractable cable, and compact design. It's a strong 4.5-star product in my book, rounded down to 4 stars here due to the significantly reduced combined output when both ports are active. If you primarily need to charge one device at 40W or don't mind a slower shared charge for two, it's a very solid option.
