i do some home made wine and ciders, including lemon, most are back sweetned with maple syrup, i like this product food grade sorbate to keep the yeastes from reactivating and causing CO2 issues on the bottled wines that can pop open the corks and cause a huge mess i dont need to clean up.

I'm so glad to have found this in a bulk quantity whereas at my local brew store only carries those little bottles. Every year I make 6 gallons of wine from my grapes and at least 3 gallons from fresh apples. This year I'm also trying to make wine from frozen fruit concentrate from the store just to see how well it works. So as much wine as I produce it makes much more sense for me to buy potassium sorbate in quantity. I'm sure there are others that make much more wine than I do, I am still probably only considered a beginner at this hobby, but as much as I enjoy it I don't see myself stopping anytime soon so I will definitely be using this whole bag. Glad I found this!

If you want to sweeten your wine, adding this is not optional. I tried it without potassium sorbate and my wine always came back to life with what I call the "fizzies" that you can taste along with the yeast. Add 1/2 teaspoon per gallon along with a campden tablet....don't forget the campden tablet, that's important. Now my wine stays clear and no fizzie aftertaste.

Great Product Kills Fermentation

The product came in good time and in good condition. It is meant to kill fermentation when adding sugar to wine or brew. In a jar I mix 1/4 teaspoon Potassium Sorbate 1/8 teaspoon Potassium Metabisulfite, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, and a dash of lemon juice. Let it foam up and shake it until it settles. Let out the gas. Add a bit more water. Then drink after dinner or meal to kill the fermentation from starchy or sugary foods eaten. It really works to keep away that yeast infection rash. It is a great savings over a lot of other products for yeast infections. A one pound package lasts a long time. I would order this again to keep on hand for every day use.
