- Reviewed in Canada on February 22, 2024Verified PurchaseDon't judge this panel by its cover photo! This really is a 16 circuit Eaton Panel. However the top 8 circuits are occupied by the transfer breakers. The bottom 8 circuits are not usable, even though the cover indicates they are there. The buss bars have been removed and there's just empty space where you would expect the breakers to go. So its basically useless and requires you buy an additional panel for the branch circuits you want to run on your generator. Our unit was shipped to us quickly, but had been opened at least 3 or 4 times before we got it, probably by other disillusioned buyers who shipped it back like we did. Probably parts missing at this point?

- Reviewed in Canada on October 27, 2014Verified PurchaseThe switch is OK, BUT --There is LOTS of room for branch circuit breakers and none available in Ontario Canada. You are forced to purchase another sub panel :(

5.0 out of 5 stars Used as a high current DPDT switch.
Verified PurchaseI needed a 30 amp DPDT switch to switch between a clothes dryer in my basement and one on the first floor. The circuit breaker box was full and I connected the existing dryer circuit to the common poles of the transfer switch. The transfer switch was then able to switch between dryers. Although the the transfer switch is rated at 60 amp the 30 amp breaker in the breaker box protected both dryer circuits.
The switch worked as it should and is convenient to use.

3.0 out of 5 stars Careful, Picture Misleading
Verified PurchaseI'm an electrician and was installing a manual transfer switch with up to 4 circuits for a small portable generator.
According to this picture it seems there are 4 spaces available for breakers and typically in an installation like this they will make it tandems, so possibly up to 8 spots.
Problem: What you see is what you get and what you can do. Those are dummy spots. That entire massive box is strictly for service in / service out. There is no bus-bar for additional breakers.
Pro: Its cheaper than a full manual transfer switch kit and you can simply add a small sub panel off of this transfer switch.
Con: Additional work with additional box installation for breakers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well
Verified PurchaseWe had it installed by a licensed electrician to switch between our main backup generator for our off-grid solar home to another generator (a backup for our backup). Simple design and seems to work well, and was a great price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice quality product. Sadly, no front door/cover to protect the exposed breakers.
Verified PurchaseNice product with quality breakers. Included both a ground bus and an isolated neutral bus, so I didn't have to buy any accessories. Heavy gauge steel, so it has a solid feel to it. Deducted one star only because I wish it had a front cover (door) for sake of appearance and for protection of the breakers (to keep them from getting bumped or broken) like a normal breaker box has. But functionality-wise, no complaints. For those who are thinking you can add breakers because the front panel has a few knock-outs.... don't. This is a transfer switch ONLY, not a breaker panel.

2.0 out of 5 stars What warranty?
Verified PurchaseNot exactly sure how to rate this in terms of stars. The box itself is pretty good, although it's larger than needed, and could have included a universal plug space instead of asking the buyer to use an external plug box. It took all day to hook it up because it required rerouting wires to the well pump. When it was finished, I tried it out. No power. Retraced the wires. Reread the installation instructions. No power. The next day I troubleshot the Siemans breakers and found one dead breaker; no power to one side. OK should have thought of that earlier. Called Generac and they told me to "simply return the box to 鶹." But it's wired in. "Have a local Generac contractor look at it." I'm 45 miles from the nearest city. It would cost more for a contractor visit than the cost of the box. Can't I just take the defective breaker to a contractor when I'm in town? "It would be better if you could have them come out and inspect the hookup." Can't I just send you the defective breaker? No. At this point, I just purchased a new breaker from 鶹. Short story, the box is OK, but don't expect any reasonable warranty support for this product.
