Nice thick Mahjong play matt to help quiet down those noisy tiles.
I recently picked up the this play matt for our monthly mahjong game nights, and it’s been a great upgrade from using a bare table. The 32.4 x 32.4-inch size is perfect for a standard Mahjong setup, and there’s also plenty of room for other games like poker or dominoes. The non-slip rubber backing keeps it firmly in place throughout the night, even when tiles or cards are being shuffled around. The thick surface also makes it feel nice and sturdy and well built. I also like that it really helps dampen the sound of the tiles when mixing them which was always a little annoying to me. One of the standout features is the waterproof surface as spills do wipe up easily without soaking in, which is a big plus during snack-heavy game sessions. I also like that the material is relatively anti-wrinkle and foldable, so it stores easily without creases or curling at the edges. It did come folded and had a major crease through the centre but that faded with time and after a quick use of an iron. It comes with a storage bag that is the perfect size to store the matt fully rolled with no folds which keeps the matt crease free when rolled out and used. Overall, this mat has really enhanced our game nights. It gives a smooth, quiet surface for playing and looks clean and professional on the table. If you're into Mahjong or any tabletop games, this is a high-quality, practical addition that’s well worth the investment.

    This mahjong mat has a nice, neutral pattern that isn’t tied to any specific game – making it perfect for a wide variety of tabletop games. We use it to play Cubed, a variation of dominoes, and it’s made a big difference. Before, pieces would constantly slide around on our solid wood table. With this mat, our games are much smoother and less frustrating, even with little hands in the mix.

    The material feels like an old-school mouse pad – a non-slip rubber backing and a soft fabric top. The top allows for some movement, but it’s still very playable. If you really needed more grip, you could flip the mat over and use the rubber side – less visually appealing, but totally functional.

    It’s quite large, which is perfect for our needs, and it comes with a handy carrying pouch. It takes a little effort to roll it up and fit it back inside, but it’s totally doable. Ours arrived with a crease from being folded, but after reverse-folding and laying it out, it was flat enough for use pretty quickly. Storing it rolled up in the sleeve will help prevent the crease from forming again.

    Overall, highly recommend for anyone who wants a better surface for table games!

    The material this is made of (XPE/Rubber/Velvet) reminds me a lot of neoprene... what they make scuba suits out of... with a rubbery bottom and cushy top surface. It looks and feels very high quality. Has a good heavy weight to it, it won't accidentally slide off your table. Though it comes folded, in half and then in thirds, most of the fold lines disappeared... all but the center line. But this isn't very strong, so it will hopefully disappear as well.

    A few issues I've discovered, that may be already fixed when you read this:
    - The original velvet case this came with makes no sense. It's 22" x 7.5" which is not any sensible size for folding a 32" x 32" mat. The best way to store this would be rolled. This case won't accommodate this. But, there's now a revised version of this case that is 34.5" x 6-3/8", which is the perfect size for rolling this up such that it has no folds.
    - There are a few subtle issues with text... a couple spelling errors and a missing word to form a proper sentence. In the latest mat I've gotten, all of these have been fixed except for one. There's also a new design that has none of the text on it.
    - I had one of these with two small indentations in the top surface that could not be removed. This had to be the result of high pressure on the surface during manufacturing or packing.

    The manufacturer (these come from several different vendors) has been very responsive to inquiries and they have been actively improving the product. Several of the issues I reported (spelling errors and case size) have already been addressed. If you get a mat with any of these issues, reach out to the vendor for help.

    The glass surface of my dining room table made it awkward and difficult to play games like cards, board games, or dice games. Even using a tablecloth, the surface remained uneven.

    This mat proved to be the perfect solution for game night. It’s large enough to accommodate four or more players and is very thick, helping to dampen the sound of dice and other game pieces. The mat is heavy and feels solid, thanks to its neoprene-like rubber backing, which ensures it stays in place. The surface is soft and smooth, and it’s waterproof, which is a bonus.

    The mat comes with a convenient bag for storage, or you can roll it up and take it with you for outdoor activities. Since using the mat, our game nights have become much more fun and enjoyable.

    Absolutely love this mat! The color is really nice and fits perfectly with my space.
