    Love this concept. I use story dice as a quick game in kids therapy sessions and they are great. Certain kids have asked for them again and again. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that some of the pictures are not easy for kids to interpret - I think there's an abacus in there, which kids today won't know!

    Story Cubes are inexpensive and super simple, but have been a pretty reliable source of "offline" entertainment for my kids in which they have to actually use their imaginations to a greater extent than most toys. I was worried that they would be totally uninterested in them after a short while but they've managed to keep them interested longer than most much more expensive toys.

    There are a few suggestions inside the box (which has a handy magnetic closure and keeps them together more than adequately enough) on how you can use them, but really, there aren't any rules and can be used in all sorts of ways. The basic idea is to roll them, and make up stories based on what comes up on the cubes which are a series of pictograms. One idea I recently had for using them was even for homework, as one of my kids has a bit of writers block when it comes to coming up with ideas... roll the cubes, get inspired. It's pretty cool, in my opinion.

    The actual blocks are well manufactured and feel substantial enough that even though it's just a handful of oversized dice at the most basic level you don't feel like you've overpaid for them at all.

    I really recommend parents think about adding these as stocking stuffers or giving them as birthday gifts the next time your kids get invited to a party. I know as a parent I would have definitely been impressed if my kids had ever received them.
