- Reviewed in Canada on June 3, 2025The two companies I've known about for over a decade is Gamesir and 8bitdo.
I love both companies dearly and have personally purchased controllers from both of them, both as my own and as gifts.
The bottom line you should know is that these two companies focus on two things:
-Being extremely affordable.
-Proving how much official controllers rip you off.
In 2025 the fact you can get THIS much value from a controller, is insane.
Hall effects and TMR sticks should be mandated by governments, because at this point any controller that does NOT feature them are planned obsolescence.
In fact, stick drift makes so much money for the big gaming companies that Sony made their pro controller's big feature the ability to easily change the sticks (at a cost) for when they dritt.
Sony and Nintendo also have you agree to their EULA which prevents you from class actioning them.
So with that, you can kind of start to understand why a controller like this is a godsend.
It's a glimpse of how good controllers COULD be.
It has a plethora of features, extremely affordable, and quality from a reputable brand that you don't need to worry about drift with.
It's impossible NOT to recommend this controller.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 5, 2025I have one of those retro gaming systems with the HDMI dongle and tens of thousands of games (you know the ones), but the problem with it has always been that the included cheap wireless controllers suffered from terrible lag and had a below-average build. Not only did this one completely solve the lag problem, but the build on it is a hundred times better.
Granted, I don't game much anymore, but back in the day when I did, this controller would've been highly prized. The exterior plastic is incredibly tough, easy to clean and I love the two-tone light and dark grey colour. The wire is pretty thick to boot, which makes sense because of all of the buttons. The overall weight isn't super heavy, but it's also not that lightweight thanks to the rumble giros in the handles. That obviously puts most of the weight in the palms which legit feels awesome. Easily the most comfortable gamepad I've ever held, and that includes my old expensive wireless ones from Logitech.
As for the joysticks, the springs are actually not as tight as the ones on my cheap controllers, but the sensitivity is excellent and they move as smoothly as butter. The D-pad is also one piece with access to the centre from the outside, unlike those controllers that separate each direction. The window toggle and menu buttons are also quite low profile so they don't take up a lot of real estate on the console, but they're incredibly easy to reach. In fact, everything is, including all three R and L triggers. Depending on how you play, you can even switch the middle finger from R2 and L2 to R4 and L4 and it's still comfortable. Of course, R2 and L2 don't click like all the others, but have a super smooth action just like the joysticks. The tactile feedback is just exceptional.
As for the rumbling, the frequency is a little slower than some of the more modern controllers that basically feel like vibrators in the hands, but I definitely like the lightest rumble mode most. There are 3 total and the strongest is pretty heavy duty. The fact that the mode (M) button between the joysticks always stays illuminated doesn't bother me either. Very easy to switch between the rumble modes, even during gameplay without having to look at the buttons. Like I said, the ergonomics are top notch and the best thing is that it doesn't even use batteries.
Overall though, the only things it's missing is a rubberized grip (which I don't prefer myself because it's more difficult to clean and prone to wear over time) and a super long cable. It's also a tad wider than most controllers so I feel like it's more adapted to adult-sized hands. No instructions in the box either which was kind of a bummer, but it was instantly recognized (by name) by my console and I was able to map every button but L4 and R4. I even figured out that you can use the mode button to map a turbo button on the right hand. Kinda had to figure it out on the fly though. Really wish they included a detailed instruction booklet to make things easier. Otherwise, if I had this thing back in the day I would've been well chuffed. It's not perfect, but for me, it's pretty close. 4.25/5 stars.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 3, 2025Truly awesome controller! The cool ps1 retro style colours, and the feel of the controller in hand. Every button and trigger feels natural, nice clean click to all the buttons and a solid build to it.
Its compatible with pc, switch, steam, iOS and android.
It was recognized immediately by my laptop (pc) as well as my switch. I played various games from fps to racing games and it had an ultra fast response time. I truly hope they make this controller in a wireless version in the future also.
Its a bit on the lighter side, but mind you being wired you dont require the weight of batteries. But for the fastest response time, wired is always the best. Combined with its 1000hz polling rate and Hall effect thumbsticks this would make an ideal controller for online competitions.
Pros:
Quality, solid build
Cool design, ps4 and ps1 combined style
Extremely comfortable
Perfect button placement
Cons:
None, truly hoping (praying) for a future wireless version of this model.
I hope this review helps you. Ill be using my Tegenaria lite controller all the time on my pc, and if I have any issues Ill update my review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic budget controller... with some quirks that hold it back
There's a ton of competition in the budget gamepad market, and I've been really pleased with GameSir controllers recently. This is the 6th GameSir controller that I've had, and I'm a little annoyed with this one. At this ultra-budget price point, it could beat out everything (including 8BitDo)... but it's couple of quirks.
This is a wired gamepad with hall effect sticks and a really nice 90s PlayStation 1 aesthetic. The build quality feels great and it's a comfortable experience if you like the DualShock layout, which I do.
The smallest complaint that I have is that it doesn't work with USB extension cables. I have a SteamDeck docked to a TV, with a 16-foot USB extension running under a rug to my seat, where I can easily swap out controllers. My 8BitDo Pro 2 wired works fine, but the GameSir Tegenaria Lite doesn't power up. I think this could probably be solved with either an amplified USB extension or a slightly shorter extension. It seems that the GameSir needs a little more power. This is super minor, and you won't encounter this problem unless you're running a similar setup.
In normal use on my PC, I've had some issues with the controllers sleep function. I've never had a controller that will power down when not in use. I think this is a great feature, but it doesn't always wake back up. When it does wake up, it's unresponsive. I still have to unplug it and plug it back in, which is a bit annoying. I'm considering picking up a little USB on/off to make it easier.
I will caveat all of this by saying that I think I might have snagged this controller before it was intended to be released. I happened to come across the listing on 鶹, and the price/value looked too good. So I snagged one for review. Then the listing went down for a while (it's obviously back now). I've updated initial firmware, but that hasn't really solved either of the minor issues that I've had. It's possible that future firmware updates will make this thing the budget king, but I wouldn't recommend buying one just because it "might" be excellent. If this happens, I'll update this review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great budget wired controller
I've been using this controller for a few weeks now, and I love it. The feel in the hand is surprisingly modern compared to what I expected from the totally flat front, and the grips are rather well-shaped. I included a picture to show you what I mean - they're not tubular or cylindrical, they're actually really nicely tapered and fit the hand quite well.
This controller is a BIG step up from the bargain-bin XBox 360 controller clones - for a wired controller, it has excellent buttons and sticks. There are a number of buttons on it that I haven't mapped to anything in particular yet, but they're there for when I need them - 5 in total on the front alone (excluding the D-pad, the analog sticks, and the XABY buttons).
The ONLY drawback that I can see is that it has a 2 meter cable, while even 2.5 or 3 would have been much better for my personal setup. If you're using it at a desk it's probably fine, but it could be tight in front of a television.
Personally, I prefer wired controllers when I can use them since I hate having battery problems and charging - this controller has none of that, so I recommend it wholeheartedly. It's a good controller, and it's a definite keeper.
