I don’t have the old one to compare to but, I believe that the bend on the end is backwards. It has to clear the main pulley at all times. It even comes with a drawing showing the proper way. If installed to clear it the rod is very crooked and nearly impossible to get the keeper in on the deck. My answer is a big hammer and vice( bend it) . After that it looks straight and will clear the pulley and you can get the keeper in
