This vest comes complete with everything you need to battle the cold. In addition to the vest you get a battery pack, charging cable, laundering bag and a storage case. The vest itself has very nice finishing. All the hems, stitching and details are nicely executed. The material is typical of this type of garment: 100% nylon outer with 100% polyester lining and filling. There are two pockets on the lower front, one on each side, that have both a zippered section as well as a dome snap closure section. Great pockets for your stuff and your hands at the same time. The waist band has an elastic tension cord with cord lock to keep it sinched tight. The main closure is a nice metal zipper that has smooth action. Up top the collar is fleece lined for extra comfort. Fit is true to size but will depend on whether you plan to wear this over or under other garments, so choose larger sizing if you plan to have this as the outer garment. Overall fit and comfort is great. Heating is done by 9 heating panels distributed through the vest, which is more than most in this segment. There are 4 on the front, 4 on the back and 1 in the collar. On the inside of the vest you can see the internal pockets sewn in where the heaters are located. They are very flexible and create no restrictions what so ever. The placement and distribution gives maximum coverage when turned on. They heat up very quickly and do a great job of keeping you toasty warm. Power to the heaters is provided by the 16Ahr power pack. This is a nice little power pack albeit a little thick. It is noticeable when inside the hidden pocket on the inner left side of the vest. You can feel it pulling down a little bit. The pack has a nice little display that tells you the status of charge of the pack, which is nice. It can be charged via the provided USBa to USBc cable but note that there is no power adapter included. Output wise there us a USBa ports as well as a DC-4017 port that the vest uses. Power can be toggled on and off via the soft control button adjacent to the ports. Same button also cycles through the different displays (Percentage, Volts, Amps) Heating is controlled by a small illustrated rubber panel of buttons on the left lapel. Ther are 4 controls, 3 of which are for the heat level in different zones and the last is for illumination of the control pad itself. Each zone can be turned on with a 3 second press of the button. The they can be toggled through one of 3 heat settings; low, medium and high. There are rated temperatures for each of these settings but I find it really depends on the ambient temperature what the resulting heat feels like. As you toggle through the button glows with a corresponding colour to represent the settings; blue, white and red respectively. If the LED illumination bothers you a press of the 4th button turns them all off for stealth mode. Function and heat remains on, just the LEDs get turned off. A nice little feature. Then to turn the zone off another 3 second hold is required. My only complaint with the controls is that mine is a little crooked relative to the zipper line. No affect to function, just cosmetic. Along with the vest you get a laundering bag. I am not really sure why this is needed but it is nice they include it and I will definitely put it in there when it is time to clean it. You also get a soft zippered storage case to go with the whole kit. It all fits in neatly without having to fuss with it. However, I feel most will probably throw it on a hanger vs put it in the case. Again it is included if you want or need it so another bonus. Overall this is a great heated vest and I look forward to wearing it on all my cold winter walks.
