Powerful flash with soft light
Top reviews from Canada

- Reviewed in Canada on February 24, 2025Verified PurchaseThis was the first external flash I have used. I found this flash to be more powerful than I expected. It provides for a soft lighting and has versatility to aim the flash in many directions depending on the look you want. I think this flash would work very well when your subject is further away rather than up close. It will over expose if up close. I look forward to experimenting further with this flash.

- Reviewed in Canada on February 26, 2025Verified PurchaseSerious and reliable seller;
I was looking for a light and practical flash to always carry with me, both for my digital and analogue cameras, and this little gem exceeded expectations.
? Design and construction: The first aspect that struck me was its super compact and lightweight design, and that vintage touch, perfect for those who shoot on the move. It slips easily into your bag or even pocket, without adding excessive weight to your camera. Furthermore, the head tiltable up to 90 allows you to play with light, both direct and bounced, to obtain softer effects. Tested on a Canon, but its work will be on a Ricoh Gr III, and I would like to try it on 2 analogue cameras!!
? Performance: Despite its small size, the flash has good power for indoor photography or light outdoor photography. With a Guide Number of 15 (at ISO 100) it's not the most powerful in the class, but it's more than sufficient for many situations. In manual mode, I can adjust the power from 1/1 up to 1/128, which gives me complete control over the light. The charging time is quite fast (about 2.5 seconds at full power), so I have no problem shooting continuously without frustrating waits.
? Power: It works with two simple AA batteries, a great advantage because I can always have spare batteries without having to depend on USB charging or proprietary batteries. With NiMH batteries I can get about 400-500 shots before having to replace them.
? Also perfect for analogue: One aspect that I really appreciated is the compatibility with my film cameras! The single contact hot shoe makes it usable on different machines, without compatibility problems. Clearly, no TTL or HSS, but for those who shoot manually this is not a limit, in fact it is a plus for having full control over the light.
? What I liked:
?? Ultra-compact and lightweight design
?? Full manual mode for total control
?? Tilting head for direct or bounce lighting
?? Compatible with analog and digital cameras
?? Powered by AA batteries
? What could be improved:
? Does not have TTL mode (but for the price it is not a problem)
? It is not super powerful, therefore less suitable for very large rooms or strong daylight
? Conclusion: If you are looking for a practical, portable and reliable flash for street photography, portraits or use with analogue cameras, the Godox iA32 is a great choice. It may not be the most powerful on the market, but for those who love simplicity and manual control it is truly perfect. I recommend it! ?

5.0 out of 5 stars Godox IA32 vs. IM20: Which Flash is Right for Your Setup?
Verified PurchaseThe media could not be loaded.
? Godox IA32: A more powerful and versatile flash, great for controlled studio environments. With adjustable color temperature, higher output, and advanced wireless control, its ideal for detailed product photography where precise lighting is key.
? Godox IM20: A compact and portable option, perfect for quick setups or when working in tight spaces. While it has a lower power output compared to the IA32, its a solid choice for on-the-go shoots, fill lighting, or smaller-scale projects.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for small "pocket" cameras w/a hot shoe!
Verified PurchaseAll in all, this is a good small flash with bounce capabilities at a very reasonable price. Though not tremendously powerful, it has a number of features that allow for good performance, including manual setting for f-stop and distance. It uses two AA batteries. I use rechargeable ones and get plenty of life out of each charge. (Note: regular dry cell AA's don't last nearly as well). The build quality and functionality is very decent. Its size is quite compact, fitting nicely with my Ricoh GRiiiX.
I appreciate that the small manual is written with decent English - a big plus in My book! No, it will not reach thirty feet in the dark, but I seldom need that much power (and extra weight).
If you understand its limitations, it should serve you well.
