At a price point that’s on-par with other more well-known name brands, this cordless trimmer performs well enough to have a place in my yard shed, and it comes with a bigger battery than other brands at the same price point.

● The build quality seems decent, especially considering it’s mostly made from molded plastic. It’s a bit on the heavy side but every component clicks & rotates easily.
● Very useful rotating head that easily converts it from a trimmer to an edger. Ergonomically, it’s a bit unbalanced compared to another trimmer that I already have; but I learned to adjust the telescoping shaft to get it just right for my usage.
● The 4.0Ah Li-ion battery has a larger capacity than most standard trimmers, and can take care of trimmer & edging needs for my 500 sq.ft. lawn in one charge.
● Running at its peak 8000 rpm (no load), it’s fairly quiet; you would not annoy your neighbours on a Sunday morning.
● The string that came with it is not the best; keeps breaking; so I changed to another brand and it worked just fine.
● Don’t count on learning much from the included instruction manual; but it’s easy enough to figure it out yourself from a couple of trial & errors.

Current price point at the time/date of this review: $149.99 with no discount/coupon currently being offered by the seller at this time. Pricing is fair and generally well within the average market going rate although cheaper options do exist but keep track of the amperage, this unit offers 4.0ah which is pretty decent as you’ll want the battery to last a good while depending on the size of your yard and length of use. If you could benefit from lower pricing (less battery time) then consider a cost savings alternative.

It should be noted nearly the entire unit is made up of average quality plastic parts. Meaning, not the super premium types but looks and feels a little cheap in terms of material quality. Design however looks fine. While all the fittings work as it should, the whole unit screams “budget” but that might be ok so long as your expectations are in check. Think “plasticy” and light.

Design however generally looks nice as it should. No complaints there.

Instructions were pretty horrid. Aside from all of the warnings and disclaimers, it gives very little in terms of visuals. Lots of verbiage, and let’s face it, it’s the visuals that really help. Better (and more) illustrations are required, and they really need to zoom in. Very poor quality illustrations and difficult to see/read and zoom into on the page. Instructions definitely needs improvements. Leave all the warnings in fine print too.

Now performance. Yes, this baby can cut and surprisingly well. The (plastic) wheel actually seem to do the job fairly nicely. Tested it out on my lawn and no real issues. Much lighter, more efficient and more effective than my previous unit. It’s finally nice to be wired free with this particular unit!

- The trimmer/edger is decent for the price. It also includes a hand pruner and a folding saw as well, making this a dcent starting package if you have yet to have any tools in your garage, or just move from a condo into a house. Screws are also included (It’s in a small plastic bag and could easily missed when opening the box). You just need a Phillips head screwdriver.

- The instruction manual is quite poor. Couldn’t really understand how to put the guards together even looking at the manual. Poorly written with poor photos as well. I have to look at the photos on amazon and putting the guards together. The head can be pivoted and again I have to figure it out myself. The unit can be extend or retract to better fit your height, and the head can be turn at an angle for the edge trimmer. Yes, all of that I had to figure myself as well and not from the manual.

- Overall, the trimmer works decent for a budget battery operated trimmer. Nothing much to expect for the price. Only thing to keep in mind is that this comes with only 1 battery and there is no options (at the time of review) that I can see here on �鶹�� to buy extra batteries. If it happens to you, then I’d suggest get this battery, or the trimmer to the local hardware store (eg Home Depot) and test it with all the other brand batteries, there could be a chance that the battery from Garcare mimics other brand name battery as well.
