I've been into planted aquariums for along time, Fulham are my goto if I need a ballast. Properly treated they last a lifetime. Very accurate power driving. I used the WH2 ballast for a remote ballast setup for my turbotwist 3x UV sterilizer which have a lower quality magnetic ballast that always fail. My UV sterilizer 9w tube fires up perfect now. Before with stock ballast always struggled to light.

Before choosing this ballast for my project, I checked out the Fulham.com website. The one thing that quickly becomes apparent, is that the owner of the company must love horses! Nearly all of their products have a horse-themed name; besides this WorkHorse ballast, Fulham makes ballasts named LongHorse, SineHorse and RaceHorse.

There are IceHorse ballasts (for cold places), SunHorse ballasts (tanning beds), FireHorse ballasts (emergency lights), and HighHorse ballasts (for high-intensity/induction lighting). Fulham has a line of small ballasts named Pony, and the smallest ballasts are named Sugarcubes! I finally did groan however, when I got to their LED lighting products and saw that they're named ThoroLED.

(The site also has plenty of technical information, specifications, and wiring information for every product.)

This Fulham ballast is not only an excellent value, it is a versatile option for different bulb configurations. Although primarily intended for fluorescent lamps, I used the ballast to drive an 18 watt Low Pressure Sodium bulb.Philips 234047 - SOX-E18 Low Pressure Sodium Light Bulb Commercial ballasts for such bulbs can run in the hundreds of dollars, so I was very pleased to find that the Fulham ballast worked perfectly (as you can see in the picture I posted).

Low Pressure Sodium light is not for everyone, but it is extremely efficient; it's even more efficient than fluorescent. The inexpensive Fulham ballasts make it easy to experiment with LPS and make you own super-efficient lighting projects, or replace old ballasts in existing fixtures. Combined with their endearing equine product names, these ballasts are a winner!

Never dealt with Florescent lighting before this, but my vintage stove was burning out tubes nearly instantly. I ripped out the old magnetic ballast and wired up this ballast in its place and now it works better than it ever did with both traditional fluorescent and the LED conversions (that need a ballast). I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if I ever need to mess with another florescent fixture that can't/shouldn't be converted to LED.
