TL/DR: 316436001 switch replacement was simple and quick and now my large burner works properly for the first time.

I bought a cheap Frigidaire oven in early 2017. It's a mistake I won't repeat but that's a story for another time. From day one, the front right 12 inch (actually 11.5 inches but who's counting) burner was a bit off. I had never given much thought to why that burner was never as hot as the left dual one, and I figured it was normal that the switch made a clicking sound every time power cycled on the element, since the oven itself does that. Anyway, I never paid much attention to the soot that started appearing only on that switch and none of the others. The clicking and (looking back) sparking sounds should have been a giant warning sign that something was seriously wrong with that particular switch, but as long as it worked (and it did, through 2.5 years of almost daily use) I never gave it much thought.

Fast forward to one day when I'm cooking some chicken thighs. I put them on, set the timer for 15 minutes, and go into the living room, like I've done so many times before. The ever louder sizzling sounds brought be back after only a couple of minutes, and thankfully I got the pan off and killed the switch before anything caught fire, cracked the ceramic top, or destroyed the expensive and no longer stocked element itself. The switch had finally given out and lost the ability to regulate itself. I burnt some chicken but things could have been a lot worse.

A little bit of research later and I found the right switch to order. �鶹��'s price was decent and it arrived 2 days later (thanks Prime.) As other reviews have stated, the biggest part of this job will probably be cleaning up the disgusting mess that inevitably starts to grow under any oven that gets use. If you're wondering what to do, there are youtube videos on the subject, and on the 316436001 switch at least, all of the wires are in harnesses so it's pretty much foolproof.

The element works so much better now, it's hotter than it used to be and now matches the one on the left. It took me a little while to get used to it, but cooking is now simplified by having elements that behave the same. Also, the new switch doesn't click when it's cycling power, and I see no new soot building up. I'm not sure how well it will hold up long term on account of the element being rated at 2700W and the switch being rated at 2600W (well done Frigidaire!!!)

Having had to endure the nightmarish process of getting someone out to fix my Frigidaire freezer (that took THREE MONTHS to get resolved, dealing with Electrolux is a gong show) I was happy to be able to take their horrible customer service out of the picture and resolve a problem myself within a couple of days.

Works perfect as a replacement to a similar looking stove switch on my smooth top stove. I didn't need one of the connections. Basically if your current switch has H1, H2, L1, L2, P, connections and the wattage reads 2100-2600w or 8.9-11.0A (amps) then this is the one for you. I had the large burner and there was a LOW connection (L1 I think) that I did not need to hook to. I suspect you may be able to use the same switch for a small burner and would likely not use one the of the HIGH connections. BUT if you have the large burner DON'T buy one that says 1250-1560W (watts) or 4.4-7.4A (amps). That is lower power than you will need. When hooking up the new one don't worry about the wire color, order or location since they vary in front vs. rear burner and brand to brand. Just copy the wire locations of your old switch to the new one: H1 to H1, L1 to L1, P to P, etc.. the spade locations and look of the switch were a bit different from stock but it works perfect and temperature is the same as the other large burner I measured with my digital thermometer. It is also possible the screw threads that hold it to the metal panel could also vary from what you have and it does not come with screws, I don't think any others do either. I lost my original switch screws anyway and I have a large screw jar so this was no biggie for me. If you need to replace the screws just use ones barely long enough to grab the front of the switch and not go deep in or you may ruin the switch or touch a contact. I hope this helps someone. I was overly worried about wire colors and switch shape, etc. It's ALL about wattage, connections (H1, L1) and the shaft that your knob slides onto. Match those and your good. FORGET brand loyalty. Frigidaire, Kenmore, Hotpoint, GE, Whirlpool, Amana, Electrolux, etc are all in bed together. Chances are your $2,000 GE 6 burner Profile stove has the same switch as the $449 Whirlpool apartment grade one.
