  • Make sure the balance knob is centered on the ZP3 and the input signal is balanced between the two channels.

  • It toggles tone control on/off. Slide up to bypass bass/treble; slide down to enable them. It doesn’t affect volume.

  • No. RCA and XLR outputs work at the same time and cannot be switched independently.

  • It filters low frequencies, letting highs pass. The ZP3 offers 3 cutoff settings for different output frequency ranges.

  • Check if the HPF switch on the bottom is set to 20Hz–20kHz to avoid filtering out low frequencies. Also check if the bass knob is set too low.

FOSI AUDIO | Hear the unheard This system is an absolute joy to listen to. I mainly use it as a dedicated music streamer by sending Tidal, Spotify, or Apple Music from my phone or laptop into the TV, then out through HDMI ARC into the DAC. I don’t use the Bluetooth feature, but I also have a thrifted Apple TV connected. That way, whenever friends are over and on my Wi-Fi, they can stream music into the ZD3 through the optical input. The tone controls sound fantastic. I’ve also tested the ZD3 alongside studio-grade rack gear like equalizers, and compared it directly with interfaces such as the Scarlett 2i2. At max volume, the ZD3 delivers a perfectly clean signal with no hiss, something I can’t say for most studio DACs and systems. One of my friends even told me that when I played music on the KRK Rokit 5 G4s, he could always tell the left and right channels were playing separately. But with this system, it feels like the whole wall is playing music, it all comes together as one seamless, immersive sound. Having spent plenty of time with professional audio equipment and active speakers, I can honestly say this FOSI system brings music to life. It never fails to impress my friends, even those with high-end car audio systems, who describe it as sweeter, fuller, and more joyful. Thank you, FOSI, for making such an incredible piece of gear.

    After having such a positive experience with the WiiM Ultra I thought I’d give the Fosi brand a try. I read many reviews and my only concern was the potential volume issue. For me it’s not been a problem but without question you should use caution. I expect a volume display will show up on the next model. One of the appeals for me was the high pass filter, it gives my system much more flexibility and piece of mind at higher volumes. How does it sound? Well it doesn’t really have a sound (this is a good thing) my system remains transparent with no harshness etc. It’s completely at home in my 10k plus system. Highly recommended!

    I bought this preamp because it has a switchable high-pass filter built in, and has XLR input/output jacks. For most people with typical systems this preamp is all you could ask for. The uncalibrated volume knob IS an issue, but not a deal breaker for me. I like the high-pass filter with 2 options for corner frequency, but I wish it could be limited to one set of outputs. I built DIY modular woofers in my main system, that double as speaker stands for whatever satellite speakers sit on top. I wish I could have the HPF active in one set of outputs, and full-range (or with a low-pass filter) for the other set (either RCA or XLR). That would allow me to control both modular woofers and satellites with the preamp, plus have a subwoofer out to the 15" active sub that handles the lowest octave. I realize this is not a typical system, and so I have to run a separate line from my DAC to the amplifier powering the modular woofers, and control the woofer volume independently from that amp. Thanks to the other reviews, I knew to power up and turn the volume way down before connecting the preamp to the system. I was debating returning this unit because of the issues just discussed, but decided to keep it anyway, allowing me to choose between two amps to power the satellites, using my handy DOUK Audio amp/speaker switcher (VU02). This allows real-time evaluating/comparing two amps or two sets of speakers with the touch of a button. Adding all these desired extra features would have cost more, and required some kind of display screen, or at the least more switches. Speaking of switches, why put the tone-control bypass and HPF setting on the bottom where you can't see them? Yes, it cleans up the front panel, but makes it a pain to switch settings with different satellite speakers. Sound quality is great - really not an issue at all. For most people, 5 stars for this unit would not be unreasonable, for me it merits 4 at most. Maybe the next iteration will address the minor complaints myself and other reviewers have expressed. You can spend a lot more money for a preamp without getting a lot more functionality and features, but just a bit more versatility or control options would make this puppy an out-of-the-park home run.

    Why on earth does the colour /paint not match the ZA3?! It's insane they'd change the finish on this when it's meant to math the rest of the line. Obviously the digital volume is ridiculous as well, but I can live with that, but right out of the box, it looks different. I may return it just for that.

    Davvero un ottimo preamplificatore, lo sto usando con le uscite bilanciate,suono arioso ma non freddo, tanti dettagli, silenzioso. Lo terrò da parte per molto tempo visto le sue qualità dubito che si possa fare meglio. Non è attivato a reggere il confronto con il pre che ho nell’impianto principale per un pelo, ma parliamo di qualcosa che ha uno zero in più sul prezzo rispetto al Fosi zp3 ed è a valvole, quindi ci sta pure che è anche una questione di gusti. Per me la “morte sua” è un bel finale a valvole, gli dà anima e personalità!
    So che troverete molte recensioni che parlano del potenziometro elettronico e della paura di accendere l’impianto e trovarsi il volume a cannone che spacca le casse…mi sembrano tutte cretinate. Mai una volta in vita mia mi è capitato di spegnere l’impianto con il volume al massimo…boh problemi per persone che devono trovare problemi

    Audiophile dans l'âme, j'étais à la recherche d'un petit préampli pour y connecter un amplificateur de puissance. Comme il ne fera pas parti de mon système principal, je ne voulais pas dépenser une fortune non plus. Et bien quelle surprise, ce produit coche toutes les cases! Connectique RCA et XLR aussi bien en entrée qu'en sortie, possibilité de connecter 3 sources différentes, ajouter un caisson de basse et réglé la sensibilité de celui ci par commutation.
    Le produit est beau et qualitatif, l'emballage est sérieux, compartiments dissociés en mousse accueillant d'un coté le préampli, et de l'autre la télécommande et le câble d'alimentation. Une notice en anglais et chinois, dommage car pas de piles fournies pour la zapette. Après une trentaine d'heures d'écoute, je peux vous dire qu'il retranscrit très bien la musique. C'est clair et limpide tout en restant neutre, je suis bluffé!
    Le seul bémol, le bouton de volume n'est pas motorisé. Ce qui lors de l'écoute est dérangeant car impossible d'évaluer où se situe le positionnement du volume. J'espère que Fosi réglera ce détail avec les nombreux retours clients sur ce désagrément... Pour un prix de 160€ sur 鶹 (le moins cher du net sur ce produit), vous aurez un préampli de qualité dont le rendu est vraiment surprenant!!!
