I read all the way through this in one sitting because the amount of accessible information is really packed in there. I already feed my dog and cats a raw diet, but seeing how much more food variety dogs and cats can actually eat is both eye-opening and exciting! It's given me plenty of future meal, topper, and enrichment ideas with the abundance of ingredients listed, how much to feed, and why they're good for your pets. It goes beyond what you can feed your pets and extends to things you use around the house, like cleaners, laundry detergent, pest deterrents, pet shampoo and conditioner, and so on.
The information is laid out in easy-to-read ways, with text often broken into small chunks and illustrations/photos and negative space giving your eyes plenty of breaks. My one formatting complaint is that there are several paragraphs that start out as single column and then switch to double column without a space between the two types. This is really disruptive as my eyes lost the natural path to follow while reading. It's a minor complaint, but it stands out because I can't think of any other complaints I have.
I bought this as someone not looking for meal recipes, but more so for general information on what ingredients are safe for my dog and cats to consume, safe quantities based on body weight, and some natural alternatives to household cleaning products and pest deterrents. I wasn't disappointed. Visually, it's a beautiful book, and the hardcover feels well made. The spine didn't crack while reading (if you're picky like me, I cringe at cracked spines). There's a wealth of information here for those interested in feeding fresh foods to their pets, even if it's just for treats or toppers, and not looking to replace entire meals.

A book of love!!
I started following Dr. Karen Becker since 2017 and she shocked my perception as to how to be a good dog parent and what is truely good for our dogs, was totally overwhelmed when i watched the documentary 'Pet Fooled' and i couldn't believe what people would do to our beloved dogs for money, ever since i see the commercial dog food/product world in a different way so when the 'Forever Dog' came out i was really excited, the book mentions over and over again food is the key and i thought to myself if we could have some sort of guideline/recipes would be great since we all want to prolong our dogs' lives and i accidentally saw they were going to publish this recipe book, and today afternoon i finally received it and it is beautiful, informative, and fun! i wish i could open up a doggy bakery that sells all the ready-to-eat snacks in this book, the most important thing is they are simple and easy to follow, you don't need to buy 12 new ingrediants just to make a new snack/dish for you dog, not only recipes but it also has useful information like what kinda dog bowl is non-toxic and what kinda eggs are the most nutritious, or what kinda water - all of that is something a lot of people never think of, including the vets, so it is not just a cookbook s it is also a book to help your dog to live longer, i am so happy that we are improving for our dogs because they deserve it for the way they love us no matter what and it is indeed a book of love! thank you Dr. Karen Becker and Rodney Habib! my babygirl Joelis is going to be 9 in Oct/Nov and as much as i want to, i know she's not going to be here forever, she's the best thing that ever happened to me and even one day she might be gone but i know she'll always be with me, encouraging me to face life's challenges like she did, she's taught me so many things which i will never forget - until then i'll keep cooking for her and be happy that we are still together!

This book does not just have things. Your dog can eat in it. It also has recipes from making chemical free, pet safe, household cleaners.. Like laundry detergent, floor cleaner, bathtub cleaner. It even has recipes that you can use outside in your yard.
I feed my dog holistically, and I will never go back to buying kibble ever again.
If you want to take your nutritional learning even farther, listen to a podcast called tip the dish, it's on spotify or anywhere you can find podcasts.
Both the forever dog books are life changers/ eyes openers and same with that podcast... But here's a little sneak peek as to what's in the book.
