Rinse hydrometer in tap water In-tank continuous readings: Submerge hydrometer and press suction cup against inside glass. If air bubbles appear on armature, gently tap to remove them Out-of-tank periodic readings: Fill hydrometer by submerging it in aquarium saltwater. Remove hydrometer, gently tap on solid surface to dislodge air bubbles from armature. If bubbles remain, use a fine instrument to gently remove them. After use, empty hydrometer and rinse with tap water.
