Established in 1649 as an ironworks in a small Finnish village of the same name, Fiskars has grown to become a supplier of consumer products for the home, garden and outdoors.

When the ironworks were founded in Fiskars, Finland was under Swedish rule, and Sweden was one of Europe's biggest producers of iron in the seventeenth century. In 1649, Peter Thorwöste was granted the privilege of setting up a blast furnace and bar hammer in Fiskars and for the manufacture of cast iron and forged products.

    I procured a rotary cutter after getting some advice that it's easier to cut straight lines with it ... it does seem a bit easier. Got fiskars because I have their scissors and they are pretty good. So far, this cutter is perfect. Easy to get blades for it too, which was a consideration.
