Works like bamboo but easy to clean
I've never tried a bamboo matcha whisk because I didn't like that it was made of bamboo. Bamboo molds in my house pretty quickly and it's so hard to wash. So I had to try this matcha whisk when I saw it was made of resin. I usually use an electric milk frother to make my matcha but no matter how long I spin it for the matcha is still bitter. It's not the grade either, I bought ceremonial grade matcha. But the question is, can this resin whisk be up to or better than the electric frother or a bamboo whisk? I used the same matcha I always use with this whisk and the matcha tasted way better!! Way less bitter, it was creamy and smooth with a thick foam. I knew that aeration helps with taste but I'm now a believer that you need a matcha whisk. Best part is I can take this one apart to clean properly and dry. Excuse my poor technique. I had small bubbles before I took the picture.

A couple of the kids have gotten really into making their own matcha lately, which I’m totally okay with—as long as they’re drinking it earlier in the day and not asking me to fund their coffee shop habits. That said, we haven’t actually had the chance to use this whisk yet. My in-house barista (aka one of my daughters) has perfected her matcha technique using a handheld frother and is currently resisting switching things up.

So for what it’s worth, this review is based purely on my first impressions rather than actual use. Visually, it looks well made and feels sturdy enough. It comes entirely apart, which at first made me think I’d broken it—but I was relieved to find I could put it back together easily. I’m still unsure if it’s designed to come apart for cleaning or if that’s just how it happened to be, but it went back together fine and seems functional.
From what I understand, traditional natural fiber whisks can get moldy or have a limited lifespan if not cared for properly, so this one made of resin (which I can clean more thoroughly) seemed like the better option for our house. It’s not a big investment, and if you’ve got a matcha lover at home, it could definitely be worth trying out. And if my daughter ever caves and gives it a go, I’ll be sure to update with her thoughts!
